Reviews for "Fred the Notable Monkey"

Funny

Neva been to da website but this is so funny...kinda short though..little to short to be that funny though...

JKR responds:

Yes, I know the cartoon is a bit too short. Next time I'll try and make a longer one. But thanks for reviewing it anyway, and I'm glad you enjoyed it a bit.

Wikipedia

Wikipedia can be useful sometimes, just sometimes. Other than that I hope Wikipedia dies!

JKR responds:

Oh I don't deny that old Wikipedia CAN be useful, I just don't like how they tell people off. I work hard every day of my life on Fred cartoons, so for them to brush me off without doing any research on the site makes me wonder what they do to everyone else. I don't agree with their methods. But anyway, they still provide a great service.
Thanks for the review!

It was good

This was a good flash with great lip synching and animation but there were problems with it. For one, it may only be me, but I am not much of a nintendo fan and for some reason, I get really pissed off when I see nintendo fanboys, so seeing the DS there got me a little pissed off. Also, I usually like short flashes but this one was short but it didn't have a funny ending like short flashes should have. Than comes the part about wikipedia, it can't have much over 15,000 articles, so if "thousands" of articles got deleted everyday, there won't be much of a wikipedia to talk about. That's a little too big of an exageration in my opinion. Still, keep up the good work.

4/5

JKR responds:

Hey, thanks for the review and feedback! Sorry you don't like the Nintendo DS, it is a great system (especially with Metroid Hunters now out), but everyone likes something different when it comes to games. I know the cartoon was short, but I did it in only a few days, even though that is no real excuse. =)
As for the Wikipedia part, I was not exagerating at all. I got the "We delete thousands of entries everyday" right from their website. No fooling.
Anywho, thanks again for taking the time to leave a review, and I'm glad you liked the cartoon okay.

Yeah, Fuck wikipedia

But really, wikipedia is more than just one person, its everone that uses it. Shit, one of my professors tells us to use it, but I refuse. However, there are some smart fuckers out there that post some good shit, but whuteva, whuteva, I do what i want, Its my hot body

JKR responds:

Thanks for the review! Sometimes it isn't always wise to trust Wikipedia blindly, since anyone can edit any part of it. But it can be a useful tool in some cases. Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed the cartoon. =)

Meh

It was an alright flash...nothing too interesting, but still worthy of being on front page (compared to other ones).

As for the "giving up their dreams" deal, you obviously haven't really experienced anything like that. Yes, some people do give up, but others try harder. Just because Wikipedia deletes one thing doesn't mean the person who made it will be crushed and give up. Sometimes, that'll spark something and cause the person to try and PROVE that they are worthy, like what you did with this flash.

I don't think that Wikipedia deletes things to be mean or to save server space. It's more on the point of detail, relevance, and somewhat on the basis of what OTHER people want. Not everyone has heard of Fred. In fact, this is the first time I have. An internet based cartoon is really nothing compared to a website that hosts many different creations (and yes, NewGrounds is on there).

So before convicting someone or some group of something that appears wrong, take into consideration of certain factors.

JKR responds:

Glad you liked the cartoon okay. While I don't agree with you completely, I do understand your very valid points.
I still feel they could, without much more effort, help people along rather than the methods they use now. Yes, there will be people who will say "I'll show you!" and try harder. But I have witnessed many too many artists who recieve a lot of rejection and not much encouragement and so they give up. Some of these potential artists are 50 year old bankers and real estate agents who told me personally "I've always wanted to do art, but my father/mother/friends said I should get a real job and not chase after such dreams." Well I don't think that's right, and I feel like the people at Wikipedia could really help aspiring professionals on their way to greatness.

Anyway, thanks a lot for taking the time to write out such good points, and leave a review. =)
