Reviews for "Fred the Notable Monkey"

So freggin what

To be frank... no one gives a monkeys about your wikipedia entry

No one really cares about your website, so no-one cares

The voices were annoying

Wikipedia can do what they want

90% of artists know your talking bullshit about the "giving up dreams" thing

JKR responds:

Let's go in order.
Several people care about my wikipedia entry, otherwise they would have not made it in the first place. I did not make it, and I personally do not care if Fred is in Wikipedia or not.

Next, thousands of people who visit the site monthy probably disagree with you that no one cares about the site. Perhaps you don't but there are people who do.

Third, yes, many people have told me the voices are annoying. However those are the voices the characters have, much as the voices that we have cannot be changed. We have to live with the voice we get. (At least I've never heard of anyone changing voices...)

Wikipedia can indeed do what they want. However I have a problem with how they go about doing what they do, and so I made a cartoon about it. Which I can also do if I want, just as Wikipedia can choose to ignore it.

Perhaps 90% of the artists who did NOT give up their dreams think I am talking crap, but I tell you that is the statistic I learned when I was in art school. You can choose to believe it or not, but it is what I was taught. If you have data to prove otherwise, I would certainly be interested in seeing it, and request that you publish this information, perhaps at Wikipedia.org.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear you didn't like the cartoon, but I hope you will find something on Newgrounds you like more.

SUX

OK, SO your art work and lip sink is awsome

voices are fuckin messed up

the whole plots sucked platypus balls!!!!

JKR responds:

Well I'm glad you found some part of it that was good, even if you didn't like it overall. Thank you for your honest opinion and taking the time to write a review. I will try harder next time.

Humor is good, but...

The graphics are okay, and the humor is good. The voices are irritating, but I'm willing to overlook it.

I'm not sure what I think of your argument against Wikipedia. I do believe its purpose is to provide information on everything, so they should not delete any article which is truthful and unbiased. However, they have every reason to delete articles about jokes or useless things. If everyone could make a wikipedia page about themselves, they would run out of server space and have to charge for subscription or get money from advertising. If that's what you want, be all means, keep fighting...

JKR responds:

Please note I'm not fighting for them to include everything in the world in their encyclopedia, merely to go about deleting things in a different manner. They can have serious effect on young artists by doing nothing but saying "Fails" or "You are not worth the time" and I don't agree with that. I did not put the Fred entry up, and I do not care that it was deleted. I merely dislike their methods for dealing with other human beings.
That said I do not believe they would "run out of server space" since most of the pages are merely text and that takes up about zero space. Forgive me if I don't cry for them that they are too popular and everyone wants to be apart of their service.

Anyway, glad you liked the cartoon okay, and thank you for taking the time to write a review.

LoL = Laugh out Loud

I thought this was really good. I know what wikipedia is, and for people who don't, you either live under a rock, or have never been on any website ever. Now, I've never heard of FredtheMonkey, but if what you say is true about all the awards and such, then it deserves to be noted on Wiki. I mean, I found this cartoon funny, and it made me laugh out loud. I do think that you could have explained what Wiki was for the people who did/do not know what it is (an easy part would have been S.C. or w/e [the green guy] to simply ask what it is), but whats done is done, right? All in all, good job. And for those lazy bums who complain about not knowing what wiki is, um...ever heard of..the internet? Oh you have? You're on it? Wow, then look it up....lazy bums.

JKR responds:

Haha, well I didn't think to tell people what Wikipedia was, so sorry about that. I probably should have, since I only learned of it myself a few months back. Well anyway, thanks for taking the time to write a review and I'm happy to hear you liked the cartoon so much. =)

wikipedia?

You may have wanted to start by explaining what wikipedia IS. I am sure I am not the only one who doesn't know/care. On another note, where did you come up with the statistic about 90% of inspiring artists give up their dreams of flash animation because of a website I have never heard of? If heartless, impersonal rejection is what you are fighting, then good for you. But I still don't like the monkey. :p

JKR responds:

Sorry you don't like Fred, but yes, it is impersonal rejection that I have drawn battle lines with. Hopefully people will remember that there is another human being that worked very hard on whatever they made before just shutting them out and calling them non-notable. =)
The 90% statistic I learned in a class I took while in art school. I had a teacher who was one of the most encouraging people I've ever met, and he explained he was that way because of the number of artists who quit simply because they were not encouraged or they were rejected in ways like Wikipedia uses.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave a review!
