Reviews for "Project: Monochrome"

Eh.

What was up with not being able to go down-right and down-left?

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

You can go down-right and down-left. Your comp must be broken or something.

It was ok

Somethings could have been better such as, make it in color instead of black and white( i know you put it in black and white for style, but it got boring), make the ship smaller and the enemies smaller too, that way the players can have more room to move around in. Other than those this game KICKED ASS!!!

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

NO COLOR color sucks for this game

Laziness!

Lack of color isn't "style" in a game. Black and white are only good for serious films, and this is a GAME. A space shooter, no less. Lack of color here is only due to laziness.

Decent

You've made another average game. Yawn.

Synopsis:
Graphics- Low quality and seriously lame looking space ship. Infact, all the ships looked really lame.
Style- Weapon system was interesting til I releazed you had to play 50 levels to get anything good. And when the game is boring at Lvl 1, it's not getting any better after 49 more. Otherwise just another knockoff of truely good airplane shooters like Raiden and Strikers.
Violence - Sparkle explosion worthy of the faerie queen's magic wand.
Basically, It's not very good, but due to the fact that most other stuff on NG sucks, this is pushed up to stardom. As for your replies to people, Your submission is on a public forum, you don't have to be a master flash producer to know shit from sweet. It's not fun, simple as that, doesn't matter what my flash background is, This plain and simply wasn't fun. So stop being a crybaby and learn to take criticism. Project Monochrome = yawn factory. Next.

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

Ugg... not another n00b
Critism is not critisism unless it helps. If you don't play past level 2, you don't have the right to give critism. So stfu n00b and play the game! You can get a good weapon at level 11

Good...ish.

Frankly, I really could have done with some scripted enemies, waves, or shot patterns. I mean, the random functions behind some enemies were cool - the A-fighters, C-fighters, etc. But seriously, every single enemy in this game is driven by some sort of random function, if not others. The thing that really bugged me were the explodey-pods - that and the second boss. The absolute randomness of the enemies means that deaths are random as well. Being completely unable to predict enemy movement or shots leads to luck playing a greater role in player success than skill (and a non-existent learning curve), which is something that's incredibly frustrating in a top-scroller. At the very least, the AI shouldn't be so transparent that we can tell that it's a just a bunch of random functions.

The upgrade system is fun, but money is too scarce (yes, even in later levels. $5 an enemy by level 25 or something? Give me a break), and the levels are too long and monotonous - and just get longer and more tedious as the game goes on. I really feel that there should have been more types of enemies, and enemy rewards and power should have gone up a lot faster to keep the game interesting. I mean, it's cool that you have 70 levels; but when every single level is a clone of the same level with maybe a different enemy here or there, the game just isn't fun.

That being said, it's a solid shooter. The black-and-white choice was pretty interesting, and your ship designs were really cool.
