Good, but annoying
Firstly, a big gripe. The enemy ships have a tendency to drift off the side of the screen, making the Destroy levels much harder since you have to kill a certain amount of ships, and it's just not possible when a lot of them are dissapearing at the sides. What is even more annoying is when one of these ships doubles back from the bottom of the screen, hitting your ship and destroying you. the amount of times I have failed a level because a rubbish little A-class fighter has looped up from the bottom of the screen isn't even funny. I know there is the backshot weapon, but in these destroy type levels you don't usually use one as you are more focused on the horde of enemies coming straight for you.
On to more positive things... the selection of weapons on offer here is nice and widely varied, with some good upgrades for each of the weapons. The bosses are tough and taxing, but not overly so. There is a good mixture of different enemy types, and it is good to have a challenge in having loads of them coming at you at once (as long as it doesn't involve the aforementioned problems!)
Loved the style of the game with the black and white visuals and find it incredible that people are complaining about the lack of colour here. In a game called Monochrome. Yeah...
Overall this is a brilliantly realised shooter, with some great gameplay and visuals, that is let down by a couple of niggling flaws.
