Reviews for "Pro-War Rally"

simple

but it made a a good point... nice work

NewEvolution responds:

Thanks. That was exactly my intent. Short, to the point, sticks in your head. Kind of like an anti-commercial.

very stylish

everything on the screen used the space on the stage nicely. it was very clean and polished looking. good sound too.

NewEvolution responds:

Thanks...I've tried hard to give this series a clean look. Glad that came across.

so long as I reviewed the other two...

Let me reiterate that I am rather partial to your style and execution. In all three flashes of this series, you somehow manage to imbue your work simultaneously with artful subtlety and unapologetic bluntness. These flashes, in all their simplicity, weave a powerful aura of mechanistic fatalism and alarmism, a style that suits your message well. Although my politics run almost entirely counter to yours, I am becoming increasingly certain that your message lies beyond the pretense of your apparent liberal argument. To speak candidly, upon viewing “Democracy?” I was under the impression that it was yet another capricious liberal bitch session, and little else. Not so.

Watching the other two flashes distilled away the politics (which became largely peripheral and inconsequential), and underscored a significantly loftier theme: you are calling attention to compromised epistemological faculties of a human being in contemporary society, and to the factors which contribute to this unfortunate state of affairs. This is, for the lack of a better expression, noble of you. In my limited (albeit admittedly arrogant) perception, you have graduated from the ranks of mere activists to the exclusive cadre of philosophers.

The message here is not inherently anti-American. I could present a rigorous and vehement argument in defense of capitalism, corporate culture, patriotism, conservatism, commercial imperialism, et al. Had I done so, as I did with “Democracy?”, I would commit an egregious injustice against the true theme of your work. There is no continuity in the sanctity of purely political ideas. History shudders and eddies, empires (America being one) reach their apogees and die out, circumstances shift and change. It is all merely information. When I riled against “Democracy?,” I was throwing around information. Yet the infinite ignorance of human beings remains as constant as the very fact of our existence. My personal belief is that there is no greater asset a human mind can command than the realization of its perpetual ignorance. It is the distinction of the wise. Yet, in the modern labyrinth of pre-packaged ideals and ideas, the possibility of achieving wisdom becomes ever more remote. Thank you for accentuating this tendency.

I only wish, however, that you make this message more distinct. The “realize” aspect of your slogan, by far the most profound, is effectively obscured by the incendiary “resist” and “revolt.” As such, the popular response, is, en masse, less than enthusiastic.

By the way, I made a brief visit to your site. Quite impressive, in many respects.

NewEvolution responds:

I'm honored nearly to speechlessness. Your elevation of me to the status of philosopher is one I could hardly dream of. I can only hope to live up to that aspiration...to become a voice people stop and listen to. Your summation of my intent is dead on. I have just enough knowledge to be aware of my own nearly complete ignorance. I am only trying to inject this modicum of knowledge into the masses. Far too many people today, Americans in particular, believe the web of information around them leaves them better informed than any other people of any other time in history. Sadly nothing could be further from the truth. More and more people get less and less of their worldview from actual experience as they turn to the media and technology for prepackaged answers. While in some areas this is ideal, total reliance on others for your functioning principles and information upon which to base your decisions is folly. It's this type of false knowledge that allows people to be so easily misled. When you base your "truth" on the television, and the television tells you something new, what objective basis for evaluating this new statement do you have? People need to realize that television is just another commodity, owned and operated for a purpose, and not the word of truth. I'm going to stand by the second and third words in my slogan. Realization is indeed the highest of the three, but in this age of corporate media strangleholds, globalization and pay to play politics, knowledge will probably not be enough. Resistance will almost certainly be necessary in order to overcome those who are currently benefiting from this system. God forbid that it become necessary to carry out an actual revolution, but the world cannot survive if we allow the current state of affairs to continue unchecked. I hope always for a peaceful change of events...for those with power to stop manipulating those without because they come to realize the injustice of their actions. However I know how addictive a drug power can be, and I fear no equality will be reached before one side or the other resorts to violence.

Short and sweet

Three words:Simple yet artistic.

NewEvolution responds:

Thanks. That's high praise, and exactly what I was going for.

NewEvolution responds:
