Mind changed on Saints Row 2

I've been seeing more and more videos of Saints Row 2 coming out and, honestly, I don't think it could really be called a "GTA clone" anymore. It looks much different from GTA4. More cartoony, more colorful, and much less serious. It looks sort of like Crackdown, actually, in style. Honesly, calling anything a GTA clone because it's a sandbox-crimegame is a bit unfair. It's like saying FPS's are ripping off of Doom.

I still don't know if I'm gonna get it, but I'm much more open minded.

I don't know; the first one was kind of blah, and all of the trailers are trying to make it seem good and fun (which they are supposed to do).

It's more of a GTA clone when GTA was wacky, funny and off the wall, which is pretty much up to San Andreas. So it is a pre-2008 GTA clone, but it's the best one.

There is no GTA clone anymore. GTA basically opened a new genre for gaming and people are following.

It's funny. Whenever an openworld game comes out, people always compare it with GTA. Either that, or they just label it "Clone" and don't even look into it when it comes out.

I'm definitely interested. I never played #1 (not on ps3) but I heard it was so-so. I didn't like GTA4 because other than the story there was nothing to do, with SR2 it looks like the stuff you can do might be a bit.. gimmicky. I'll wait to see reviews and stuff.

Anyway, i wouldn't say it's a GTA clone, I'd say it's a clone of Saints Row, which in turn was a clone of the earlier GTA games.

Actually, people called every game after Doom a "Doom Clone" when it came out.

People will always say a game rips off another game throught history. It's not like this is the first time it happened.

As a fan of both GTA4 and the first SR, I'd have to say that I look forward to SR2, but it won't stop me from playing GTA4 again.

GTA4 was a more serious game than San Andreas, and I like that, but SR is based on being completely ridiculous, which I also enjoy.

Judging from the few trailers for SR2 that I've seen, it's gonna be something really off-the-wall, which I like.

I like the Crackdown comparison. These games were made for fun. It is said in many of the videos that you don't really have to do the missions, you can just dick around. Even in San Andreas, you had to complete some missions in order to unlock portions of the map. Take Saints Row as a less serious, possibly funner version of GTA.

Im not a big fan of either of them to be honest seeing as they dont specialize in any single gameplay aspect so all of it just seems mediocre.

Honestly though they're are to games that are real "clones" of gta

because they only changed certain aspects up, and for the most part it was the same old gta gameplay engine they had been using
