I agree. I remember when everybody was saying the NG was becoming identical to every other site on the Internet back when user pages and stuff were introduced, but I didn't agree. I can see where they were coming from now, and I really don't like it.

No one's forcing anyone to USE the feature, you know.
If you want to protest the web-2.0-ification of NG, then don't ever use the video embedding link for a news post, and boom... you're golden.
There is NOT much difference between a NG userpage/news comment WITH video... and without. Both of them can be super-myspacey if the NG user LETS them be. It's all about the users, not the framework. We make NG the way it is. So make it a better place, eh?

You're like the third person in this topic to make it very clear that not everyone here is reading Rob's userpage news comment, where he specifically says video autoplay is VERBOTEN, because they don't want people subjected to autoplaying shit when they go into someone's userpage for any reason under the moon. Not everyone wants to hear the audio in your videos... they may just be checking your profile/stats.
