This is a club dedicated to the game called Mass Effect! In this thread, you may discuss anything related to Mass Effect.

Message to moderators: If you have a proper reason to delete or lock this thread, do so, but I would like a message as to why.

Rules:

1. No flaming (each other or the game)
2. Follow all BBS rules
3. Don't go too much off topic

If you could, please post (optional):

1. Your current level
2. If you have beaten it or not
3. What kind of character you are (if you have chosen custom)
4. Your favorite aspect of the game

I am currently a level 16 Soldier, and I have not beaten it yet. I have only had it for a few days, but I love it. It feels like a movie. It's like Knights of the Old Republic, only not turn-based fighting, which makes it awesome. My favorite thing about the game is the movie-like dialouge and the third-person shooter action. I tend to like third person shooters more than first person shooters.

That's all from me! I would like to hear the inputs of you other Mass Effect fans here on Newgrounds!

A high-end Paragon level 50 Vanguard, specialising in shotguns and that motherfuckin' carnage, it's a beast.

I've completed the game (with all side quests I could find, all planets scanned/landed on, etc, etc), and I haven't started a second time around. I can't decide whether to play on to level 60 or whether to start again with a different character.

Cool. I'm in.

I'll say this like I'm the main character.

Hello, I'm Commander John Shepard. My 2 main travellers are Wrex and Garrus. I've enough experience to make myself better soldier. I'm a level 32 and I specialise in Pistols, Electronics and my Fitness.

Am I in?

Has anyone not played as a soldier? What is it like? Are there special powers given to non-soldiers?

Response to Mass Effect Club 2007-12-27 22:53:27

Hell the fuck yes.

I took the pussy route and decided to just play as a soldier which makes shit easier imo.

I beat the game twice and I'm level 51.

It seems like more of an interactive movie than a videogame, and bioware was nearly perfected the dialouge in its games.

If you mean, do they have special powers not given to biotics and techs, yes. They can use all the guns, and as such, have Marksman, Carnage, [assault rifle power], and Assassinate. Other people can't use all the guns. For example, my vanguard is untrained with Assault Rifles, so the crosshair is massive and I cant zoom in, rendering the assault rifle entirely useless.

If you mean what you said, then yes. There's all the biotic powers, and there are all the tech powers like sabotage and damping.

Also, I decided to continue with my level 50 on Hardcore difficulty level, but I'm going to try and get the renegade achievement, which will be fun, considering I have to get to level 59 before [the big debate with wrex] ideally.

That's what I thought of it.

Oh, okay. The soldiers have no biotic powers.

Mass Effect was a great game, most Bioware games are and i've bought every single game theyve released for the past 5 years.
But, it felt as if it was lacking something. Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Republic (jade empire especially) were in my opinion, perfect games. They had everything i could want. A good storyline, hundreds of side quests, good gameplay. And while Mass Effect had all these elements, it just wasn't quite delivered as well. I can't put my finger on it, but there was something missing from the game. It might have been that there wasnt long enough of a storyline, but i think it had something to do with the gameplay. To me, it felt like i wasn't fighting enough and I was talking most of the time. And usually, i love the talking elements in games like this. They overdid the realism, i think.

Is this club pretty much dead? Seems like a game as big as Mass Effect would have more followers, and a lot more to discuss.

My level-7
My class- adept
I have not beaten the game
The best feature is the combat style, with the myriad of weapon choices to use, and the greatness that is either having the choice of either shooting from cover, and taking few hits, or just charging your enemies while shooting at them, and then smacking them with your gun. It works quite well.
Can I join? And no this club is not dead.

The revival of this club made me play this game again. It's like a movie that you control.

Somewhat, but not quite as much as the MGS series, where it has so many cut scenes, that everyone complains about them, I still think that they are awesomer because of them. Also you can skim dialogue when it drags on for too long.

no.

when you start use the existing profile option
i made the mistake of playing it through twice with the same class and realising it afterwards :p
p.s. you have to stay the same class and origin preference though

I played the game through 4 times with the same character and once with 2 others. Got the two gamerpics you get from completing it on Hardcore and Insane. The N7 one is my current gamerpic.

My main was a Soldier level 60, specializing in quite alot. Can't remember the exact specs for him.

The others were an Adept and an Engi just for fun and to get the achievements.

Brilliant game overall though, definately recommend it to anyone.

Finished the game two times with My level 60 Paragon Soldier, and is starting my second playthrough with my lvl 51 Biotic.

Anybody noticed how "fortified" that base was on Vimire?

Seriously, they couldn't drop a nuke on it, declare Saren dead, and call it a day?

the things we give up for RPG elements....

As you can tell by the snow, I'm Canadian. Battlefield Bad Company 2 Barracks

If only, then everything would become so much easier. At least we get hours of rpg instead.
And the base was quite fortified, and annoying.

Such specific details,he.

I wonder how much longer until actual data about mass effect 2 will become known. Any thoughts about it?
