If Slipknot were shit please explain why they sell millions of records?
Opinions. Also, Hannah Montana. She's a millionaire at 16, and she has the musical integrity of a turnip.
Record sales comes from these factors:
1. Distribution. Meaning, are they signed to a major label? Do they get a lot of press (directly influenced by record label)? How readily available is the music?
2. Is the band easily consumed? Free jazz, noise rock, and experimental anything don't get very popular because it's hard to understand. I realize that you're thinking "WHAHHHHH IT'S NOT A MENTAL WORKOUT TO LISTEN TO WEIRD MUSIC" but really, it is. People want a pop song with an AABA format and catchy hooks. Slipknot is pop with distorted power chords and double bass pedals.
3. I was gonna have a three but i totally lost my train of thought 'cause i got involved in another conversation.
I realize that my words are probably gonna fall on deaf ears (save for people like Nev that understand. Sup Nev.).
Also i'd like to join.
