Mugen Club 2007-06-20 16:26:02

I've decided to make a club dedicated to the one 2D fighting game that still matters, it's also a good place for fans to discuss the game as well as anything they make.

MUGEN is a highly customizable Internet Fighting game where you make it any way you want. As long as the character and stages exist.

Say you want Mario to fight Ryu from Street Fighter, you can make it happen. If you want to put Homer Simpson in a fighting game, then you can make it happen. As long as you can find it and download it and put it in your MUGEN game.

Alright, some basic rules of MUGEN Club.

1. All NG Rules apply.
2. THIS IS NOT A WAREHOUSE!

That's pretty much it, that's all I can think of now for rules. If you think there's anything I should've added, let me know.

Now here's some useful links.
WinRAR YOU NEED THIS! Without it, you'll be lost. Since nearly every file is a RAR or ZIP file, it's pretty much required.
Where to Download MUGEN Yeah, you need this or you can't even start.
http://www.freewebs.com/mustkillroy/ A great place to get characters.
http://randomselect.i-xcell.com/ A great place to get characters, stages, and more (click Hosted Creations)
http://gcnmario.free.fr/ Some good characters and stages (if you want Mario, I'd recommend making him Metal Mario and not normal).
http://www.mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php A MUGEN forum. All the latest news on MUGEN.
http://www.mugen-infantry.net/ An awesome site. You can download a huge screenpack, as well as many excellent characters. Probably one of the best.

Some tutorials.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uq-GLgNnrFI A tutorial on how to install the biggest Screenpack (getting the most character slots, being able to fit at least 500 characters in this pack which I provided a link to above).
http://www.youtube.com/user/txrocker281 This guy has a ton of Tutorials... you just have to search for them sadly.

If you can find more tutorials as well as sites. Post them.

Now let the battles of history begin!

But for some reason i can't get any new characters. I watched the tutorial and such but it could be different in my situation since i don't have XP.

Are the DEF file and the folder name the same? If they are then you should enter the character name under "Characters."

Then it should be there.

It doesn't matter what OS you have. Even Mac, Linux, DOS, and Vista users can play MUGEN.

I'm in, also DIO BRANDO.

MUGEN is the shit. My friend has mugen installed in his computer and he plays as most of the Naruto characters. I've seen many video's of mugen. Some of the best characters in mugen would be Super Saiyan 4 Brolly, Sephiroth, Super Saiyan 5 Goku, Evil Ken, Evil Ryu, etc. There is too many mugen characters for me to name. So yeah, count me in. :)

I in fact got a link to Sephiroth but the file to download him is an EXE and I have no f'ing clue how to get him into MUGEN.

Here's the link. There's also "Ultimate SSJ3" who's considered the cheapest character of them all.

Please do.

I welcome you both.

I also have some questions on how to get better at fighting. I can't seem to find a good way to get better. Training Mode sucks and the controller I have seems to not be very good.

I'll post a picture of my controller. I may have to give in and get a PS2 - PC Adapter. Hopefully they aren't that expensive.

Interesting. Maybe I should get Mugen but I worry if it will take too much space in my hard drive. :/

Here's the link. There's also "Ultimate SSJ3" who's considered the cheapest character of them all.

He is one of the cheapest characters in mugen yet he's freakin sweet when he transforms into a Super Saiyan 5. Also, the ULTIMATE CHEESE will always be Tom Hanks. He's hilarious with his laughing voice though. XD

I'll post a picture of my controller. I may have to give in and get a PS2 - PC Adapter. Hopefully they aren't that expensive.

Using a controller for playing mugen is the best option. Using the keyboard to play Mugen makes you feel like shit. >:(

I really need a PS2 eluminator or something. Using the keyboard for MUGEN can get really annoying.

Oh yeah, I downloaded the EVE (Everyone vs. Everyone) Screenpack, I love it. It is a really badass screenpack.

Hey, I have a controller and I suck really bad. Maybe it's because I need a PS2 Adapter?

Eh... Google really doesn't help with telling me on how much they cost.

Only about a week.

Here's a good site for Street Fighter Characters. I'm still looking for an M. Bison character that's not called by the original Japanese name though... Same with Balrog and Vega.

For those wondering.
M. Bison was called Vega.
Vega was called Balrog
Balrog was called M. Bison (but all this was changed due to Mike Tyson).

Even though it's labeled as Vega, when you load him up, his display name will be M. Bison. He acts kind of like M. Bison from Marvel vs. Capcom. Warning: He has really tough AI.

I had to take Adolf out of MUGEN. As Much as I love that fucker, I don't like getting fucking KOed that easily. I like playing as Jotaro, and Dio, and Yuki. Hitler just annihilates them all too quickly. Plus, i haven't mastered his K.O. specials (same with all my characters).

Is this a good PS2 to PC Controller Adapter?

It's the first one I found in Google that wasn't a British Store (I can't pay in Pounds you know).

So is it a good one?
