Since I mentioned my French class in relation to my Hannah Montana folder, I feel it's now completely relevant. We have a French oral presentation assigned that needs to somehow incorporate a French-speaking country, so I figured I would talk about Heavy Rain. I actually learned some things researching it.
Apparently, David Cage was under the impression that America was universally wealthy. A trip to Philadelphia changed that, and he decided it had everything he needed as a setting for his game. Ghettos, poverty, and druggies, Philadelphia sure is swell. He also said that he believed it was easier to tell a story set in a place you don't know than one you do (France). That's really all I had seen that I hadn't before, and that's not all that interesting; I just laughed when he said Philadelphia changed his mind about America. The rest of my presentation will be pretentious ramblings about how it's not about being a game, but instead an emotional experience dependent on story and character interactions, thus, expanding the medium to an artistic status like never before.
