Here's a very quick visualization sketch I did for a sword in a sci-fi book that I'm writing. The larger blade rests behind the arm and shoulder, and is actually has a very short range in almost any position that it is held. It requires that the bearer use tactics that bring his own body dangerously close to the enemy--nearly shoulder to shoulder. The larger blade is also used very well in defense, for the fighter only has to raise like he would a shield to block swiping attacks from other swords. The smaller blade in the front is the best suited for a quick stab--the quickest move from the sword's 'relaxed' stance.

Well, the problems are that it would be impossible to weild due to size and it would be impossible to use accurately thus making it completely useless. But it would still be fun to have in real life though.

and what do you mean its not accurate??? Its has a freaking SCOPE! And a laser sight!! The large size is compensated for by the comphortable gel grip!! Thus, it is the perfect weapon.
