The search bar really works
now I don't have to go through the collections page

Response to Clock Day, Search, PAX! 2006-08-23 21:55:37

Now if only I could filter search results by date, rating, author, etc.

Well congrats to the winners. I had some hopes in my submition (sbc plays pacman) since I put a lot of effort in it. Anyways kudos, and I hope to win something next year :)

Well, hopefully you guys can bring back the text search on the BBS soon. I mean, it's been over 2 years.

Congratulations to the winners of the consoles, that was indeed quality stuff.

Castle Crashers looks like a lot of fun and I'll be sure to pick up a copy on it's release date.

And it's good to hear that the search system has been improved... Thanks for the hard work guys.

FIANLLY. Seriously, it's about time. Thanks =D

Oh, are you ever going to "fix" the bbs search as well? I find it to be clunky, and it doesn't search the direct phrases you type in. If there is a topic called "matrix mario" (using 2 popular topics for example), I would easily get a hundred different topics of matrix, and a hundred different topics of mario, but not the exact topic that HAS the title "matrix mario". I believe it is the space that makes the search engine search for 2 different things...

The search was always a bit lacking. The new system rocks! Nice work. Tom, good luck at PAX. I won't be coming out like I had mentioned. Too much work :(

Promises promises.

By the way, thank you to liljim and Ross for all their hard work. I know they're working to improve NG, and for that the vast majority of NG and I are grateful. Keep up the good work, guys.

So I'm basically awesome.

Original NG chat lives and thrives here.

Big congrats to the winners, especially you Dwarfinator. :)

Congrats, guys! You're each getting an XBOX 360, perfect for playing Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid when they come out! :)

Awesome prize.

I'm flying to Seattle tomorrow to showcase the latest Castle Crashers demo at the Penny Arcade Expo! As the name implies, it WILL probably crash a few times... But that's what demos are all about!

Good luck with that.

I mentioned last week that I would have some exciting news over the weekend, so I'm officially a few days late. The news is that Ross has overhauled his old search code! Searching for Flash submissions on NG will now yield much better results - Alien Hominid and Numa Numa are now listed first, rather than in the 20s like they were previously. Also, you can now search for "Dad 'n Me" for the first time ever, as we now accept three letter search terms! The new search is also running off a new read-only database server, put into the cluster by Tim and set up by James! The second DB server takes the load off our central database server. Does this mean BBS text searching and user profile searching could finally be making a return? I won't make any promises, but I'm hopeful!

Sweet and i hope BBS text searching and user profile searching will make a return but i hope the Popularity rank won't come back due to it's misuse of the Refresh button on the profile to cheat and get rank.

I'll be checking in via laptop from PAX, I hope to see some of you guys there! It will be my first time in Seattle!

I've heard Seattle is a great city just too much rain.

:I've heard Seattle is a great city just too much rain.

Bullshit. The only time there is too much rain is during Winter. All of the other seasons rule ass, and Seattle is my favorite city in the entire country.

Holy moly, Clock war Part III was a high candidate, Clock Tournament had a chance, but I didn't expect Dwarfinator to win! XD

Congrats to all of you!
