Perhaps we'll have to get a Google Wave sorted for it :P
Oh that made me laugh! If you can get a damn invite to the thing. :-P

Well, I'm on Wave now, so invites may be forthcoming at some stage :P

The Yankees winning the World Series?

Oh, wait... we've still got about another 32 hours to go :P
Should be over now in about 13 hours...unless we go into extra innings again. :-)

Yeah! Now there's a victory parade in a few minutes time.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOOGLE WAVE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR!!??
Simple: it's an online collaboration tool that is supposed to remove the need for instant messages, forums, email, file servers, etc. It makes it possible to collaborate in a much easier way. It's really gauged for businesses that have multiple offices, but it's good for basically any group trying to collaborate on the Internet.

Yeah, it could be a place where Eagle hosts a wave for his stories, for example. A place where discussions about potential members happens in real time, that sort of thing.

What does everyone see as so useful here? I can't see anything I haven't already seen before elsewhere. What am I missing this time? :/
The idea is everything you need is here, all at once. Nothing else necessary. Again, not anything useful for someone playing around on Newgrounds, but for a business, it's a really big deal. No more need for email, fileservers, sharepoint servers, IM servers, etc.

It's great if you're collabing on a flash movie and need to get some work made by the voice actor, while two or three animators are trying to refine a drawing to make all three of theirs look something like on another.

So out of the entire Barracks, only Byte and Lizz are happy for me? Gee, thanks a lot Coop. @_@.

Just an update, I hope to get chapter 10 out either within the next few days or hours. As I'm writing this, I only have 8,276 characters left in my newspost. I'm not really sure how much more I can fit in that amount of space. Sorry it's been taking so damn long.

Hmmm. Over the past few days we have been talking about nothing really. Shall we get a conversation going in here or something? IT seems.....Kinda.....Bland.

Really I'd say we should talk about the portal and all that.....But there is really nothing to talk about :\

Tell me about it. Hey, since Byte, Eagle, Idiot-Finder, TheThing, PuddinN64, and myself are all writing fanfics, how about you jump on the bandwagon Lizz? I'm pretty sure you could come up with something. After all, you're the youngest here.

You
Myself
Pork
Krev
Byte

We're like the comedy relief of the EGB. When the 5 of us get going, we joke a lot with each other. Maybe you could do a fic about our days in the NGOD, save for Byte, we didn't know her then.

Just got this surgery done yesterday. It was a solid 10-hour day for me in the hospital. My nose is now pretty much centered, and, from what I've been able to do so far, breathes a lot better. But I did learn a few things while there.

1) You will never get any better sleep then when you're knocked out with anesthesia.

2) Percasets are one hell of a drug

3) Even though the surgeons broke my nose and cut my nostrils, nothing hurts more than a dry throat sore from the breathing pipe they put down it for the anesthesia.

4) When you're 10 minutes out of surgery, don't hit on the nurses, even if they are hot. Because trust me, you look like to belong in the morgue.

That would be good....However, I don't have a good imaginative mind. I would need a storyline, an ending....Something to actually go on to actually create the story.

It would be nice though....Hmmm.

Ooooo. Did it go well? Well obviously it did....But its only the day after.....How are you feeling?

1) You will never get any better sleep then when you're knocked out with anesthesia.

Apparently, it effects people in different ways. My uncle felt much better and very well rested when he went under the knife.

I am yet to have my operation, so I am looking forward to how it effects me :)

2) Percasets are one hell of a drug

Of course they are.

3) Even though the surgeons broke my nose and cut my nostrils, nothing hurts more than a dry throat sore from the breathing pipe they put down it for the anesthesia.

Hmmm. Well your mouth IS open for a long time during the surgery, and the tube. Dang....You would have thought they could have given you something for that :\

4) When you're 10 minutes out of surgery, don't hit on the nurses, even if they are hot. Because trust me, you look like to belong in the morgue.

Meh, my nose is a bit sore, but my throat feels so much better. Also, thanks to the miracles of drugs and ice packs, I've got very little swelling. Also still a bit weak.

1) You will never get any better sleep then when you're knocked out with anesthesia.

Some people end up a semi-conscious state where they randomly speak. My friend who had his wisdom teeth taken out was told that he was talking about the women in a photograph were dancing.

I was fortunate enough to be in a relatively normal state when I woke up.

Well, since you can't drink any water except when you first get up, your throat is dry. Then they shove a plastic tube down your throat, which leaves it irratated. I went from about 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM without water.

Once again, percasets are one hell of a drug.

I would show you what I looked like about 30 minutes after my surgery, but my phone is gay and won't upload the picture. So here's what I look like now, about 24 hours after the surgery.

a couple of those, they can saw off your legs with a rusty spoon and beat you like a pinata, and all the time you'll be singing "Take a Chance On Me" from ABBA's greatest hits. Or so I've been told...

I was fortunate enough to be in a relatively normal state when I woke up.

Normal, of course, being a completely subjective opinion based on your perspective. I seriously doubt anyone in this forum reading this post can be considered normal. But I am glad you'll be back to your old self in no time.

Actually, from your picture, you look like a young Bill Gates that just got the crap kicked out of him in the school yard for telling everyone that "one day you will all bow to me, the King of expensive bloatware!"

All kidding aside, I hope your recovery goes well, and your can literally breathe easier from now on.

Yes, I concur. But I know Lizz is in the middle of a bunch of exams, and he's trying real hard to get his grades up, so I'm not sure how much free time he'll have to spend on a story. But if he does get time, I can give him this bit of advice: write about what you know - and then add in the people here as they could fit. You can take any story concept and match up people you know with characters in the story. For example, "Alice in Wonderland". Who would be Alice? What about the Mad Hatter or the Rabbit? Forget about gender - look at personalities. Imagine yourself as the protagonist (main character) and then think who would fit the other roles. The thing about a fanfic is that there is no right or wrong - if you change reality, so what? The idea is to have fun, and exercise your writing skills.

We're like the comedy relief of the EGB. When the 5 of us get going, we joke a lot with each other. Maybe you could do a fic about our days in the NGPD, save for Byte, we didn't know her then.

As I've said numerous times, I use comedy and humor to defuse tense situations. It's hard to stay serious when there's a clown in the room - unless you hate clowns and shoot them on sight.

And, according to this article people with a sense of humor tend to be more creative - and vice versa!

Meh, I just more talkative/funny, and had some funny gesticulations. Of course, I don't know what the size of the pill was, so it could have been whatever the lowest dose is.

I was kid of hamming it up for that picture. I don't need to wear that thing over my nose anymore, so I just look like I got hit in both eyes and have a funny plastic thing over my nose.

That could be fun...I can see that place easily becoming a gathering point for the EGB and a nice supplement to the main thread. I'd have to play with it more to see, though.

Yeah! Now there's a victory parade in a few minutes time.

I hope the Yanks extend Kate Hudson's contract... :-P

Yeah, it could be a place where Eagle hosts a wave for his stories, for example. A place where discussions about potential members happens in real time, that sort of thing.

I also see it as a great chat room, greater than using IM or some chat on a web page. You could literally see what all of the EGB is doing at that time...I think it'd be a blast!

Let's talk about lawn chairs. Interesting, aren't they? ;-)

I read the procedure and all of your posts, so I'm glad to see that the procedure was successful, and here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

1) You will never get any better sleep then when you're knocked out with anesthesia.

I remember when I had to get foot surgery due to an accident in martial arts...I saw the guy inject something into my IV hookup, and I remember saying "So, how long before this takes affeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..." *sleep*

I woke up feeling like I just had like 20 beers...it was awesome.

2) Percasets are one hell of a drug

Oxycodone is the shit...no doubt. I'm someone with a large tolerance for stuff like alcohol and painkillers, so I can actually drive and function normally on oxy, but man, when that stuff starts working, it's like a blanket of awesome slowly coating your body. Ahhhhhhh...

3) Even though the surgeons broke my nose and cut my nostrils, nothing hurts more than a dry throat sore from the breathing pipe they put down it for the anesthesia.

Ugh...I can imagine...that doesn't seem to be a think that painkillers can easily resolve.

4) When you're 10 minutes out of surgery, don't hit on the nurses, even if they are hot. Because trust me, you look like to belong in the morgue.

HAHAHA...I'll remember that tip, thanks. Of course, you might have the Florence Nightingale effect work towards your favor, so it's worth a shot. :-P

At 11/6/09 03:55 PM, byteslinger wrote: Byte's great advice

Exactly. That's why my initial Barracks story was about Counter-Strike...it's what I knew. I have since been able to expand my writing elsewhere, but it was the best building block for me.

(Another PSA from the fine folks at the EGB. And remember kids, only you can prevent forest fires!

*cues music* The more you knoooooow.

So yeah, let's hope for our fellow Barracks member's quick recovery...and if you get to reading my story TheThing, you'll hopefully notice I left you a little present in the latest chapter. :-)

Well done on getting to Staff Sergeant SlntCobra1 it took me ages to get to that level. So Creeb up to his old tricks again that is nothing new then. On the stolen flashes I find it hard to tell if they are stolen or not as you say the address not matching does not mean its not there flash. Sheizenhammer I would love to see the link about how to tell if flashes are stolen. I remember being caught out with a author called YouGame on that account. Glad your surgery went well TheThing. Hopefully Chris Beer wont submit any rule breaking flash again. Have you noticed that his aviator is Donald Duck?

Well, I'm finding another 2 things about the surgery that I hate.

First, I can't sleep. It's more of a intermediate stage between being awake and asleep, and I'll pop out of it every once in a while.

Second, it feels like my nose is constantly stuffy, like i got a cold. The only problem is that I can't blow my nose because it'll hurt like a bitch, and I'll break all the clots, which means I'll be bleeding like a woman.

Ouch. I know what that's like. It's worse than getting no sleep at all. By the way, I don't know if you noticed, but I started a sequel to the original BUF, and something tells me you'll enjoy it so far. :-)

He should be healed externally, in no time. You forget that his sinuses had to be moved and muscles have been cut, its going to take a while to heal internally though.

However, I do agree with Eagle, you go look great. I wish you the best of recovery stages :)

Y'all think a 10 hour surgery is immense?! HA! My surgery on my back was much longer. I had to go in at 7:30 AM and my surgery was scheduled for 8 or 8:30 and I woke up about 6 or 7 that night in the ICU.

Here's the discussion Lizz and I had over AIM yesterday evening.

LizzardisNG 4:53 pm
I've always wondered though, how did you do your back in? Were you born with it? Or an accident?
DragonMaster368 4:53 pm
Well, Scoliosis is a genetic defect. It's on both sides of my family.
my aunt on my dad's side, and my mom has it, but not as bad as I did.
It didn't really start to show until I was 13. I had a hump but my parents didn't know what it was.
LizzardisNG 4:54 pm
Dang. So what happens again? Your spine curves a funny shape?
DragonMaster368 4:54 pm
Yup.
LizzardisNG 4:54 pm
Man....So how do they correct that?
DragonMaster368 4:55 pm
http://www.webmd.com/video/scoliosis-sur gery
http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/tc/scolio sis-symptoms
LizzardisNG 4:57 pm
So what do you have? Flexible, stainless steel or Titanium rods?

Not sure.
I think it's the flexible stainless steel.
LizzardisNG 4:57 pm
Ah right. Okay
DragonMaster368 4:58 pm
Mine was much worse than those 2. The upper portion of my spine was bent 80 degrees to the right.
LizzardisNG 4:58 pm
Wow!
Was that painfulk?
painful*
Or did you learn to deal with it and such?
DragonMaster368 4:59 pm
well the pre-op wasn't.
The post-op PT was the worst.
but waking up in the ICU was a rough event. 7 minutes after I woke up, I puked.
LizzardisNG 5:00 pm
Why? The pain, or because of the anestesia?
DragonMaster368 5:00 pm
the anesthesia
LizzardisNG 5:00 pm
Sorry for my spelling.....Not to good on words i have never spelt before.
DragonMaster368 5:00 pm
it's alright.

but one day while in the hospital I had to take a leak, so I got up and hobbled my way to the bathroom. When I came out of the bathroom, the doc walked in, mouth agape and I looked at him and blatantly asked "What? Never seen a guy leave a bathroom before?" That was fucking funny as hell!!
LizzardisNG 5:02 pm
Ahahaha. Dude....That would have been funny to see his reaction!
DragonMaster368 5:02 pm
it was.
he said 'GET BACK IN BED!"

Also, best of luck on your recovery Thing.

Sorry for the double post, but speaking of the portal, y'all seen this new spam crew the BGG? Otherwise known as the Brad Garrett Group?

I respect Brad as a talented actor and comedian, but who'd have thought that spammers could ruin that?

I have in fact had the pleasure. Turns out they're targeting me with their latest Flash, too. Looks like I'm all sorts of popular lately...

On another Portal note, there have been a few Flash submitted today that have been spawning pop-ups, so make sure your browser has a pop-up blocked built-in or installed. Keep on the lookout today!

Ouch. I know what that's like. It's worse than getting no sleep at all.

Yeah. Although I did find some sleep after posting that. Wasn't great, but it was better than what I was doing before that.

By the way, I don't know if you noticed, but I started a sequel to the original BUF, and something tells me you'll enjoy it so far. :-)

I'll have to check it out when I get a chance.

The picture far below doesn't show my face too well, but most of the bruising has gone away. It just looks like I haven't had much sleep.

He should be healed externally, in no time. You forget that his sinuses had to be moved and muscles have been cut, its going to take a while to heal internally though.

Most of the bruising has gone away, but my nose still hurts a bit and is tender. Might be able to take the split off in another week or so, and then I shouldn't do any contact sports for about a month or 2.

However, I do agree with Eagle, you go look great. I wish you the best of recovery stages :)

Thank you, and everyone else who has wished me a good recovery.

Yeah, it really wasn't that bad. Hell, it was really only a 3 hour surgery. The rest was prepping me and then making sure I wasn't going to die on the way home.

My mom says that it used to be that I would have had to stay in the hospital for a day or 2.

And I'm sure that Cobra had to stay around for a couple of days before he went home.

Lol. I seem to heal quick. When I donated blood in the spring, I was able to walk around normally. And even after the surgery, I was a bit weak, but still able to go to the bathroom just fine.

Lol. I guess he was just trying to cover his ass. Imagine if you fell down or fucked up your back again. It'd be all on him.

This is stolen from armorgames. It's a pretty large game.

Sorry you need 2/500 points to join here so when you reach Private you can try then. Thanks for the link to that flash TP. Well the portal being spammed by a user called BradGarrett or another name with the same image used over again, its annoying but good for blam points wonder if ist the same user as last week. Don't know why someone would try to steal a Armor game I check out that profile of that thief gamerboy500 http://gamerboy500.newgrounds.com/

Well, another Saturday night in front of my laptop. The portal has been relatively slow this week, despite the spikes of spam and crap.

This gave me time to finish another chapter in my fanfic:

Chapter 15 - Loose Ends

I'm going to expand on some details over the next few chapters, since many of you wanted it not to end just yet. And, yes, I am tying it in to current events and EagleRock's current story as well.

Hope you like it!

It still amazes me what people try to steal. I still laugh when someone bothers to try to steal a flash that is ridiculously prominent on the Top 50 list. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for showing your interest in the Barracks! As others have already said, you don't yet meet the requirements to join. The requirements are as follows:

- B/P rank of Elite Guard Private or higher (minimum of 2,500 B/P)
- Minimum whistle status of Bronze or higher
- Good posting habits and a history of such to back it up

You seem to understand B/Ping already, but here's a link to the FAQ for convenience. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I'll answer them for you. :-)

His newness, his level, as well as his profile is leading me to believe that he is one of the DD, I could be wrong though. I'm pretty sure either he just got recruited into a spam group, or he was in one all along. Again, I could be wrong.

Heh, speaking of ridiculous, I remember someone trying to steal Toss the Turtle. It got flagged before the flash obtained 50 views.
