I try to always eat alone because of it, I hate the idea of anyone knowing that I eat anything in the first place so for them to physically hear me putting any food into my body freaks me out! When others eat, I've found that the worse foods to hear them eating, aren't crunchy foods, but what I catagorise as "loud foods". These foods are things like saucy pasta, pizza, burgers and bakes like cottage pie. They're loud in a stodgy way, which is way worse than being crunchy.

You know what's even worse? When someone's chewing loudly, but doesn't know how to chew with their mouth closed. It's the worst sounding thing ever, especially when you're trying to take a nap. My roommate does this sometimes and it drives me up the fucking wall.

Remember kids! Chew with your mouth closed, unless you want to look like a giant douchebag with no table manners.

Well as long as you're not open-mawed gnashing your teeth, I don't have a huge problem with it.

What I hate, living around my elderly father who is also a bit rotund, is disgusting wheezing and labored breath while you eat....I could deal with the chewing, especially in the context of the food, but there's no reason WHATSOEVER to vocalize that chewing... drives me up the fucking wall.

I have no issue with it, as long as their mouth is closed. If some slob chews with their mouth open and sounds like a cow, then we have a problem.

Everybody else in the thread seems to have understood this; they knew I was simply joking around about something that annoys me. There's a legitimate neurological disorder called misophonia which causes sufferers to feel extreme anger or anxiety when they hear certain sounds. My girlfriend has it and the sound of people breathing makes her blood boil. She also happens to have very acute hearing, which isn't exactly a favorable trait for someone with the condition. Most of the time she can't sleep in the same room as me.
