if people like your work.. they'll follow you. just post good artwork and they'll come, the promote = getting your friends to follow you

Consistently produce more work, as much as you can. Publish it on website like NewGrounds and maintain an online presence on those sites too - respond to comments, be active in forums, get to know other users and their work too. This WILL build your name and following.

:I’m new to this platform and I’m not sure why I don’t have a follow button for people to press
I get a few follows here and there for making meaningful contributions to the forums, but I get the most when I make something deemed worthy of the front page.
The rest is just strategic tagging and doing good work consistently enough that you show up at the top of searches. It's easier here than Twitter or IG since there's no algorithm designed to keep you hidden.

I swore I’ve seen that Twitter algorithm at work when it comes to hiding people
I see a cool post, sometimes drawings other times what looks like good flamewar bait, and as I even think of moving my mouse over it just vanishes without a trace. Dunno if many others seen this before

That's a weird buffering issue that affects basically any feed-based app. What I'm talking about is that you could have a single hashtag on a tweet or IG post, post it, then immediately search for what you posted by hashtag and "most recent" and it'll be 100 spots behind things that were posted hours or days ago. It just straight up does not do what it says it does.

I know you’re new and I’ll admit that forums are confusing, but if you see a thread from 2014 pls make a new thread instead of resurrecting the old one because it pings all those people and the topics typically solved anyway
