Maybe you should consider using an alternative browser for the next week:

Or better yet, use a different browser indefinitely.

"Some advised users to switch to alternative browsers, such as Google's Chrome or Mozilla's Firefox while the bug was being fixed."
During which the users will ask themselves why they hadn't changed to Chrome or Firefox many years before.

That's saddening.

I'm honestly surprised that number is bigger. I think of casual visitors being the biggest chunk of Newgrounds traffic -- people Googling "online cartoons" or "online games" and finding Newground through it and expected most of them to be IEers because they don't get the concept of browsers.

It's actually lower than the averages according to Wikimedia's stats on Wikipedia.
There's a number of reasons (other than naivity) why there are so many users coming here using IE including but not limited to them using work or school computers, where they have no alternative. But if you're using your own machine, really, you should be using a different browser than IE.
There are people who're still using IE8 (rather than 9) because they're stuck with it as a result of having XP. I've seen people like that who write that they don't want to switch browsers because it'll slow their machine down - well that's ridiculous. Chrome and Firefox might take a little longer to load up, but once they have loaded everything runs much more smoothly. And they face less of a risk of picking up malware etcetera particularly if they stay on top of updates.

Seems like Chrome's becoming the standard. Not surprised, if Google tells people to download something, they will. But it's a good browser -- not really my favorite browser, I stick with Firefox, but it's worth its credibility.
I recommend Google Chrome for anyone still using Internet Explorer and looking to switch to a different browser.
I'm glad that IE didn't install with Ubuntu, its default browser is firefox

I'll inform my parents and grandparents immediately. Thank you for telling me, liljim.
To GuerrilleroHeroico, Crazywill and macmillion - just ween them off it if you can. Install a browser you want them to use on their behalf, then put up desktop and / or taskbar links and remove all instances of the IE links they have (you won't be able to uninstall IE itself and nor should you try).
When you install whatever browser you've chosen, you can move all their bookmarks over from IE if you want. Obviously, they'll have to log into whatever sites they've been using again, but that's no big deal.
Also make sure that you have the browser settings check for automatic updates. I know you've all probably considered this already, but once you've done that they should be set and you can leave them to it.

not that they should be visiting newgrounds then, anyway

Some reason they have maximum filtering for firefox.

We should start showing them ads for firefox or chrome.
Looks like IE10 is just around the corner...
I swear by Firefox though.

really? I expected more. Luckily I downloaded google chrome 2 days ago. I still prefer IE9 though. They're about as fast as each other. This'll be the last time I'll be using IE for the next week then. I don't like using google chrome.

That's even more surprising.. as a Chrome user.

If you're using IE for any reason you have bigger problems than being hacked.
Ecchi first, ask questions never.

How? It's owned by Google. Every time someone goes into Google without chrome you'll see "A Faster Way to Browse the Web" to the side with Chrome there.
Google could tell its users to revolt against their government -- it'd happen.

Ooh this is something I wanna know. Also are the results accurate or some kind of assumption? How do you know this? WHATS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?!

The only reason I like chrome better is because it's more compact, and I'm a minimalist. That and adblock.
Adblock is on Internet Explorer too.
