Both also have their own websites, and they'd be able to embed their videos on theirs and others' websites through Youtube.

people on newgrounds are generally more supportive, they live breath eat and shit out flash, one youtube, any sort of crap can be posted

the audience here is a lot more narrow, which can be good for an animator to get started

but I'd say they left because they got popular enough that they didn't need to depend on the site

YAY newfags can upload windows movie maker files without having to convert them to swf

That just means more blam points. Idiot.

And animators finally being able to get started without either pirating or spending $800 on software that has stopped caring about animation for years.

I don't think rtil even uses flash much anymore or at least not as his primary program for animating. Also, I can't find that post he made on his site at all. o_O

http://rtil.deviantart.com/#/d4p864b - He's still active, this seems like an animatic for a new project called Katawa Shoujo. Seems to have unorthodox characters with quirky whimsical plots, we'll have to wait I guess (but sadly not on Newgrounds).

So Weebl returned two weeks ago. o_O I wonder why he decided to upload this on Newgrounds, but none of his other flashes he has made since his disappearance.

Because they weren't made in Flash. He animates in After Effects now and he doesn't want to convert the video for a tiny audience.

I can't wait for the day NG allows other formats besides .swf. You can do so much more with After Effects and Flash combined rather than just Flash alone and converting back is just a burden. I'm just curious how NG will handle the file sizes since formats like .mov can reach 100+ mb very quickly if the movie has a decent length and you want non-shitty quality.

Picking up on rtils' post on the backalleys:
I think his opinion regarding the featured content seems reasonable. There is alot of parody comedy junk going on and some are good and some are bad, it's not for everyone but for the majority. I think however that overall Newgrounds lacks the amount of original series it had in the past that aren't just parodies of something. What I mean are animations like Xombie that aren't just "funny video on the internet" cathegory, but feel like real movies/shows. This is obviously something the ng staff can't solve, but maybe allowing different file formats will bring in some ambitious new and old people.

Sadly I don't care, never liked their work too.
It was neat, but not more than that.
Personally I think this website lacks wacky-style animation and not stuff that has alot of effort put into it.

uh i've definitely seen submissions by both in the last year. neither of them are particularly good, but illwillpress is a horrible person with horrible fans. they're more likely to do well on their own sites.
