What games would you simply pass up if you had the opportunity to buy or play for free?

For me it would be most of the MMORPGS, bargain bin games, and oldschool arcade games. Basically, too many games, too little time.

How about you guys?

Minecraft

Gritty modern military first person shooters. Far too many and they're all too similar

Yeah, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor and such don't really interest me for those reasons. That and they seem exclusively multiplayer.

Well I hope I'm not countering the purpose of this this but legitmately I don't think I've remember the last time I've felt I actually had fun with any game recently like I would have like when I was a child Last I remember I enjoyed GTA Vice City but that was it after that. Practically playing anything after that feels like I'm working for the accomplishment of finishing everything in a game

The Assassin's Creed series.

Fighters.

I don't think I could ever pick up Street Fighter and have a good time. Hell, if I was PAID to enjoy Street Fighter, or any other fighter, I don't think I could do it.

FIFA and Madden

I'm not a sports guy so I have no desire to play these games.

Racing games, except or Carmageddon because carmageddon is just bad ass!

Racing games (like Need for Speed and Gran Turismo) never appealed to me at all. I don't get why some people are so crazy about these games. Once you get moderately good at them there's practically no challenge at all anymore and all there's left to it is driving the same tracks over and over again. Boring.

Furthermore most sports games. I'm okay with Fifa because I like football, but Madden or basketball games or whatever just don't seem all that interesting to me.

Skyrim

I literally have no interest in that game whatsoever.

I absolutely hate "mech" robots. Gundam, transformers, metal gear etc. Also anime, like blazblue and KoF.

Metal Gear Solid is not about mech robots, it has one mech robot that appears rarely in game, you know you should try the game sometimes.

Pretty much all major league sports games and a lot of racing games just aren't for me.

Any and all sports games. I cannot stand them.

I like Burnout though.

- War shooters other than WWII shooters. I dunno why, modern war shooters just don't interest me. They're fun in short bursts and with friends, but I've never been willing to fork out the money for one. But I love WWII shooters. Weird.

- MMORPGs. They take WAY too long to get into. I've never found the time to spend on them. Plus I find them relatively boring unless you're at a high level already. Meh.

Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, any RTS game and Arkham City.

I just don't feel like getting Arkham City, no idea why..

This, along with World of Warcraft. I really don't like games where you have to spend a huge amount of time to be good. I hate the process of grinding and these games seem to be built on that concept.

-MMORPGS: I am not wasting my entire life to get powerful and do tedious quest.I always try to get into them but they end up boring.

-RTS: I find them boring and confusing.

First person shooters or any realistic game in a first person perspective.

If I want to play a game that simulates real life, I'll just go outside.

Mass Effect. I'm sorry, but it just looks like a shooter with dialogue trees and a contrived morality system.

Final fantasy and most other JRPG's accept Kingdom Hearts.(Huh, Go figure.)

world of warcraft

Any mario game besides smash bros series.(Inb4 Travis: "Sonic fanboy.")

Street Fighter

traditional resident evil games.

Mass Effect

need for speed and all other racing games except burnout and stunt ignition.

Ordinary EA sports games accept for Fight Night and UFC undisputed

Japanese robot games.

strategy games, period.

Video games based off American kids shows.

Exactly, I wish I wasn't so obsessed with achievements because it really stops me enjoying the game :(

You're a bunch of picky little bastards. I know the spirit of this thread is more to point out genres and series you're not fond of, but I'd try anything if it was free. Why the hell not? I've discovered games I never would have considered otherwise that way. I know I'd probably get frustrated by fighters that require mastery to enjoy online play and MMOs that rely on grinding to keep you playing for years, but they're still worth a shot. Keep an open mind and most games really aren't that bad.

Who's to say some of us didn't already try the genre's we now overlook? When I was younger I had this mentality, "ooh that cover looks cool let's play it!" I was to be really into Nintendo but then personal taste starts developing as you get older.

Any sports or racing games, im more of a shooter games kind of person.
