No, that's just how an attack works. It waits for you to finish the raid and if you survive you automatically return the fleet back to your home world.

Fast teching to Large Cargo; I have two superior forces at my door, one of which has gone idle. The other player broke the defenses of one of the more profitable colonies, and I've been widdling away the minor colonies. Now that all defenses are down, I'm working my way to minning and upgrading what I have. One I have ONE large cargo, I can basically fast tech to colony ships.

So goes the plan, that is. The other player could easily farm the last of the main colonies resources before I even tech to it. I'll just have to risk it. It could be a rather large gain, or a complete bust and waste of time and resources.

I would comment on how funny this is but karma will bite me in the ass later so instead I'll say oh man dude that sucks.
