Here's something I'm wondering about espionage. See the report I have below... there's nothing under Defense, I was confused for a while as to whether that meant I was too low to be able to see any defense or if it means there IS no defense. I THINK I think I think that if you SEE the defense header and there's nothing below it then there is no defense. The reason I think this is because I sent probes to someone who was marginally higher than me once and the report only returned the res levels, and there were no other headers.

There's a formula to how much you see when you spy on others and generally you'll need to send a few probes and not just one to see defenses and research, unless you have an advantage over them in espionage tech (a significant one for seeing their research).

The tuts can be found again but clicking the '?' beside your mail icon, to the right of that green "patch notes" thing.

I guess it depends on how much time you foresee yourself having in the future, but it seems to me that in the first week or two it's better to focus on bulking up your resources. The sooner you have good economy going, the smoother future operations will run.
