My active project is named "Adder's Fork" which is a mixture of classic heavy metal and 80s post-punk and goth. Some of my riffs still resemble Shores of Sheol but it's an entirely different entity with clean vocals dominating. Yeah, I've learned how to sing properly (more or less :-P) and it's fun.

I'm part of this hidden group on Facebook and got a mixed reaction when mentioning them but I've been listening to Greta Van Fleet lately. I'm aware they're essentially a "Led Zeppelin clone" but to be fair they're a decent clone of them. Hell there are so many damn Black Sabbath clones that they essentially made their own sub-genre and I'm glad to see more bands playing in that general vein of rock music and getting a decent amount of publicity. Though I also wish they'd both try to keep their sound close to what they're doing but do enough to make themselves sound more original than they already do. We already have a Led Zeppelin. We don't need a second one.

Well my username was originally Viper50. So, seeing as the username was just going to waste on an account that was almost definitely never going to be used again, I asked Tom if he could change my name to it.

I've never been super into The Cure but I do like them. Might have to give that a listen when I have any free time. Though I do listen to Bell Witch. There was a band who I used to listen to that I cannot for the life of me find on my computer but they only ever had 2 releases and they sounded like if you condensed suffering and hatred into ambient music. Wish I could remember who they were though,

Be careful with your approach on "The Cure" though, only their second, third and fourth albums (Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography) have that deep sense of depression and only the latter one feels "dirty" and even perverse. Then the band literally imploded and left Smith with the need for change. They got poppier and more psychodelic. Still not bad and remaining unique in sound but not at all like the earlier releases.
The Cure - The Figurehead - this is my favourite song by them. Turn up the volume and listen to the lyrics, it's worth it.

I've not given much attention to new stoner and doom metal albums. I've yet to actually give Sleep's newest album a proper listen, same goes for High of Fire. Not a big fan of Conan though. But I should give a listen to the other few bands you listed. It's just that I've been listening to a lot of death metal these days. Obituary, Morbid Angel and other oldies, but I've been spinning all my Bolt Thrower, Blood Red Throne, Cannibal Corpse, Death and Carcass albums a lot lately.
I realize now that when the Metal Hell was very active back then, Bolt Thrower barely got discussed in here. Or maybe it's just my memories that aren't right.

I agree! For some reason CtS received a lot of hate from old-school Mastodon fans when it came out and is still regarded by some as some kind of pseudo-intellectual hipster album. I'm not really getting all the hate. Other bands receive kind of similar criticism, such as Pallbearer. I absolutely love their music though and I'm happy that most of the metal community has been extremely welcoming to this band. I saw them at Heavy Montreal 2018 this summer and it was absolutely amazing. They make very heavy and slow doom, kind of post-metal-ish music, and I highly recommand basically everything they've ever made

Ah Songs for the Deaf. I like it but I like stuff like Rated R, Era Vulgaris, and ...Like Clockwork more than it. Particularly the latter. It was easily my album of the year when it came out. I legitimately cried after listening to the song I Appear Missing on it because it really hit me in the feels and I never get that emotional from music unless it's a special reason. Kinda like Worlds Apart by Pallbearer.

Mhmm understandable. Their debut is VERY Sleep-esque with the guitar sound but over time they really developed their own sound.

At the very least you need to listen to De Vermis Mysteriis all the way through. Probably my absolute favorite HoF album front to back including the bonus track.

I have a burned copy of The Sciences in my car with The Clarity tacked onto the end. It feels like the opening track from the album was sorta "pointless" and only really served to be something like the "intro" song to the album but was almost entirely just noise. Also I need to listen to the new HoF album too.

How you are with Stoner and Doom metal is how I've been with Death and Black metal lately. I've just been letting that sort of stuff fall by the wayside. I think it's partially because my ex was crazy into both of those subgenres of music and despite it being a long ass time since we broke up it still reminds me of her. I'll still listen to say Death, Amon Amarth, Skeletonwitch, and stuff like that.

Also guys, I'm kind of excited, I'll be having my first official music video out with my current solo-project this Friday/Saturday and have done it in cooperation (haha, he did 90% of the work) with a young Indonesian director (thanks to the internet for getting to know talented folk from abroad). Lots of value for money, he did a great job for how little bucks he actually wanted for it.
Have been using Fiverr for freelance work and can only recommend it for album covers/videos/lyric videos/comic art, whatever.

Yeah, Those Once Loyal is an AMAZING album! It's an amazing farewell record. I would have loved for more though, but Willetts vocals are not quite as good as they were before now. Well Like Clockwork is a lot more "mature" musically than any of their albums beforehand. Rated R and Era Vulgaris are in the same general vein as Songs for the Deaf but is better.
Just had a listen to "Turning on the Screw" and "Era Vulgaris". Totally didn't enjoy the repetition and vocal approach in the former, but the latter title track did a lot more for me. I'm struggling to find the reason for this.
Really. I wouldn't have expected that considering older bands and singers in particular tend to go a bit downhill after years.
I knew that Smith was still in good shape (vocally, perhaps not so much in appearance..) so I wasn't overly surprised. I think it heavily depends on the style as well - raw and demanding metal vocals will tear on your vocal cords a lot more than totally clean and rather relaxed singing techniques.

I've had a few relationships in the past years, most of them culminating in varying levels of suck. My current one is different, this woman is NO beast at all and other positive aspects make this a LOT less frustrating compared to earlier "dealings". It's almost totally dispute-free - better for my heart, better for my nerves. But still, more than a certain tolerance for metal and goodwill for my own creativity is all I can ask for (and I'm glad this is the case now). Women who like (more than mainstream) rock and metal AND who are lovely at the same time seem to be a very, very rare breed around here...and I've been switching flats and locations many times in the last decade and know people this side of the country...

Well that's the opening segment of their movie Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters (yes, colon is spelled out in the title). In the movie *spoiler alert* Meatwad dies and they get Neil Peart to come in and play "The Drum Solo of Life" to bring him back to life. And Neil Peart is pretty much connected to his drum kit and moves by sorta scooting around with it while standing.

More or less just look at Ian Gillan from Deep Purple. My sister went to see them live I wanna say last year with her bf and he sounded kinda.. bad. Whereas Glenn Hughes sounds great still.

I've had many problems with used cars in the last few years. Finally got a floor model of a new car and been driving it for a year, no problems at all. I hope it's gonna stay that way a for a while, I drive 70 km every day and it has to be reliable. Public transportation doesn't work here. At all.

Well, not exactly my preferred styles (apart from Dying Fetus, a more than decent band in my book) and that last one is more djent than anything but I'm no elitist ^^ so if you want to know more about metal and in which directions it can go, just give a shout out here. Anyway, I'm currently listening to the new Metal Church album "Damned If You Do" out on December 7th, I've received a promo for review. I dare to say that if you liked their comeback from 2016, you'll be fine with it, even though I'm not even halfway-through it. Similar stuff, maybe a little stronger when it comes to riffs and structures, but the main reason for hearing this is - of course - Mike Howe, who still got great pipes, still sounding like ca. 1994.
