I assume this meet is still happening, despite all the freak snowstorms shutting down every major airport.

Of course. If there's any inclement weather situation going on around the time of the meet, then I'll do what I can to make sure everyone is adequately prepared. Last year, we were hit with a massive Nor'easter. Right now it's too early to tell what will happen, if anything, but I keep track of the weather here every day.

No worries.

If you get drunk and naked, I'll loan you my jacket and make sure you don't take advantage of any of the other NGers.

I wont be doing either, but thanks love. I'll have a few drinks, and I'm definitely going to do another shot of chocolate cake like last year because it was amazing. But as for getting naked, the boyfriend would probably be concerned, and I would too--so that would never happen.

I think if there's as bad of weather as last year ill not go. I know not everyone is in a position to make a decision like that but yeaaa, that was absolutely dreadful last year and if Tom can cancel his appearances based on having kids, I can do so on the grounds that i am not laying in bed sick the day after a meetup.

So is Tom officially out then? That's too bad. What about the other staffers? Are you canceling out right or just saying that you won't make the trip should it be too shit of weather? It's getting close, so it'd be cool to know who officially is coming from the staff. If the list on the meetup site is final for staffers, then :(

So.. is there a list of NG's that are definitly showing up?
Is there a list of maybe's?
Is there a list of everyones ages?

there probably is but im at work right now and cant lurk like crazy for it.

I live in NYC so im definitely going to be there. I might have a new job at the time so i may not be available to hang out every-single day but as its going right now ill be there everyday.

This thing is just a little over a month away. Regarding the weather... guys its NYC. We already had our one fuckup cleanup of the season. Mayor bloomburg wouldn't let that happen twice in one season because frankly he doesnt like the city to look bad on a certain issue more than once a year. But i completely understand people not showing up because it is actually blizzarding the weekend of the meet.

If there isnt a list of definites ill make one up if need be.

This is the best list we have so far.
It may need some updating though. Some people might not decide they're coming until almost the last minute, like Tom for instance.

A NY Meetup would be more ideal May/June's time. NY weather is just terrible 10 months of the year.

No, fuck that. The colder the better. Plus, NYC and Long Island are some of the warmest regions in NY State all year round.

Then maybe you should organize an Alaska winter meetup sometime in the near future.

I say neutral weather, like late spring or early fall, would be more ideal for everyone. But that's just my opinion.

Why do you like extreme cold anyway? Are you like Mr. Freeze or something?

I personally blame my love for cold weather because of ancestry. Native American in Northern Vermont/Quebec, as well as family members from Northern England, Scotland and Ireland. My family that immigrated in the 1600s came to New Hampshire and stayed there, so the cold is just sort of... In my blood, if you get me. Winters are comfortable to me, and I wear t-shirts in temperatures down to about 25. Summer, I barely go out. It's miserable to me. I feel most comfortable right around 50-60, and any hotter, I don't stay outside for more than 5 minutes without finding air conditioning.

Man, fuck the electric bills in the summer.

Not sure if it's the same for Gory, but I know a few others with similar ancestry that are the exact same way. Probably just a hair thing.

The only problem is that I've never been to Alaska before. I know too little about the geography of Alaska, and I can't think of any regs here offhand that live over there.

Kind of. My body responds well to bitter cold for the most part and very badly to heat. Heat makes me exhausted very quickly and sometimes too much of it can drive me to unconsciousness.

Grand Concourse is in the Bronx and is reachable by the 2, 4 or 5 trains. We're meeting over at Grand Central, not there.

My train will be dropping me at Penn station. Cymbal and I have it worked out though.

Try to arrive no later than 1:30 in front of the defunct ticket counters inside Grand Central's main concourse, and no earlier than 10 AM or so. Everyone who went to the meet last year knows exactly what I'm talking about. If you don't, they're not too hard to find. You should first notice that there are two sides of ticket counters--one side is active and the other is closed off and doesn't have any ticket agents serving customers. You should also look out for an NG poster, people wearing NG shirts or recognizable NGers like me so you're certain that you're in the right place.

Well Fuck. Sounds like I'll have to arrive a day early. The earliest train won't arrive til 3:30.
And I don't think cymbal gets off til 5pm. This is a sort of conundrum we are in aren't we? Unless one of you guys can pick me up. Or I can just not be a cheap bastard and shell out some of the ridiculous amounts of cash I have in my bank accounts for a taxi.

The schedule I posted pertains to Saturday only. Plenty of people I'm sure will arrive on Friday. As for Symbol, I think he started a new job at Con Ed this month but I don't know his new work schedule. For his last job, I know he worked from 10 to 7 on Saturdays. He may be off Saturday entirely this time. Ask him for more details.

Gory, bring your megaphone again. also, I think we should do something while we're there to entertain the public aswell as ourselves. something really obnoxious. and we must film it.

any ideas? the 6 dicks in a row thing sounds like a good possibility until they make us turn it off.
