From a neutral point of view England really didn't dominate the game as much as you make it out to be. The match statistics show that the ball possession was 57%-43%, the shots off target 7-6, shots on target 6-4 and territory 50%-50%. Really not such a big difference and lets not forget that the Americans were closest to scoring the 2-1.

So I think 1-1 was definitely a fair match result.

Yeah we didn't DOMINATE the game. I just disliked that users comment about "USA almost beat England" when really it wasn't anything like that at all.

As I said before the disappointing result last night (if not entirely unexpected), this group should come down to who can batter these two by the most goals. Get an early goal and I can see both England and the USA getting a few, Slovenia and Algeria look dreadful. It is all important to top the group- the route through to the latter stages will be much, much harder for the team that comes second.

Algeria and Slovenia have perked up a bit in the second half (in that both sides are actually picking up the pace a bit). The first half was pretty dreadful though, as has been stated. The BBC team weren't really exaggerating when they said there were about two chances... over the whole 45 minutes.

0-0 so far, looks like it might stay that way.

I'm looking forward to Serbia-Ghana and Germany-Australia.

I think France-Uruguay had more examples of downright stupidity. Neither side here seems to be making an attack or anything. When they get speed up, both teams are at least getting chances, but they end up being defensive when they're attacking!

The Slovenians made an almost-lethal mistake a few minutes ago. Algeria should've taken it, I don't this is quite over yet if bungles are being made.

It's 1-0 for Slovenia now, but my god these teams are horrible. They make one stupid mistake after the other and neither are able to perform one decent attack without fucking up. It seems like they solely rely on corners, free-kicks and shots from a distance. Makes me wonder how these teams even qualified in the first place.

Anyway, this match should've ended in 0-0 in my opinion and I hope the USA and England will crush both teams with 4-0 or something.

The thing we have to look at is we dominated the game (for the most part) and a freak accident led to our downfall and we didnt play to anywhere near to our ability, we also have look at the USA and see thats the hardest match were gonna get until the quaters, for America that will feel like a win but not to get too downhearted best to cock up now rather than in the latter stages of the tournament, we can play much better cmon england!

Ghana played terribly versus Holland in the friendly match before the WC started. Their goalie hadn't played for a year and performed poorly. Also, Ghana have the mostly ugly shirts in the WC in my opinion.

And what's wrong with Pantelic? He has played well at my favorite club, Ajax, in the past season.

Wait. Not talking about their current shirts, but I thought they also had one with light-blue mixed with red-brownish. I can't find them though and maybe they were actually from some other country. Oh well, doesn't matter.

Half time: Serbia 0, Ghana 0. Not a bad game so far (maybe I'm saying this in response to Slovenia-Algeria...), Serbia's defence has been good, coping with Ghana's stronger attacks. Serbia need to fine-tune their attacks though - I think they've been relatively underwhelming so far, so some decent chances towards the end there.

I love the Ghana support. Has anyone else seen the guy with the steaming pot on his head? Wonder what the relevance of that is.

Oh yeah I heard something about his attitude when he was still playing for Wolfsburg or some other German club. I think he has changed ever since he plays in Holland though.

I agree. Not a bad match thus far. Both teams play offensively and that occasionally results in some good football. They have much more quality than Algeria and Slovenia, that's for sure.

Hoping from a better performance from Milijas this half, he had a few decent deliveries but nothing spectacular, but I suppose there hasn't been bundles of chances yet. Only mentioning his performance since I'm a Wolves fan so always good to see a club player give a decent performance. Second half has just started now so I'm hoping for a nice, open, fast paced start.

Probably more entertaining but definitely not much of a contest. Can't see Australia leaving much of a mark on Germany at all to be honest. Think Germany will score 2 or 3 at the very least, or at least I hope so.

Germany vs Australia. Germany have potential players, Ozil, Podolski and Schweinsteiger will drive the germans up, and Klose will try to provide 'firepower'. I still prefer Cacau though...with the defence of Lahm, and Mertesacker, they shouldnt have any problem in the air. But Australia have Tim Cahill...and Cahill's a fucked up header....I wouldnt count much on Kewell though. But ive seen the german passing isnt so good. But still Mark Schwarzer better be fired up if he wants to keep Australia in the game. Still i think Germany will win. Im still looking forward for tomorrows match though
