Congrats to our neighbors on this flawless victory. You guys have been the only ones thus far who have not disappointed (beside South-Korea maybe).

Also, this is definitely the most enjoyable match of the WC until now. I'm hoping for a fifth, or a 4-1 maybe to make the 'socceroos' look less embarrassing.

So do you think it could be a German or Spanish or Brazilian win this year? I think that England will make it to the Quarters or maybe even semi's if we're lucky

the way i see it the top teams will be:

Germany, since they have a good history with 3 world cups and they always make it pretty far.
Brazil, since they have 5 world cups and have appeared in every world cup(i might be wrong on that one)
South Korea they looked really good in the last game they played
England because i'm a fan

Yeah that's the way i feel with england, though it's not just blind optimism with england, we have some good players and Green just made a critical slip up...

You think South Korea is better than The Netherlands?

I don't really care for either team but i suppose I'll have to watch them play tomorrow before i could answer that, also I can believe that I left Italy out of that list.

Well that was impressive, all the more reason for England to go all out attack against Algeria on Friday and do everything they can to get top spot. Hopefully Germany won't look so good against more physical sides in Ghana and Serbia.

I hate to say it, but without Cahill the Aussies are as good as gone. It will be a miracle if they can recover from that to beat the other two sides in the group.

We have already had the luck with the draw. If we top our group we avoid all of the tournament favourites until the semi finals. Meanwhile Germany will have to get past Argentina in the quarters (we'll have one of South Korea, France, Mexico, Uruguay etc.). Our tough match would be round two against (most likely) Ghana. I'm still confident we can make the semis.

blindly confident

South Korea looked good against the Greeks.... just sayin'

I'd say Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, and Argentina are the class of the tournament.

Also: Mexico, Paraguay, and Cameroon as sleepers.

Not a suprising result imo, by far the most entertaining game so far.
Looks like Germany are going to have an interesting world cup.

WOOOHOOO! 4-0! Grreat game!
Hopefully this is the start of some better games. It has been very disappointing so far with only results like 1-0, 2-0 1-1, etc.

Oh I see. I knew it was some German sub-top club.

"sub-top" is putting it really nicely. They where relegated this season. ^^

I hope Netherlands win against Denmark tomorrow. Hopefully there will be a match Germany against Netherlands later in the tournament. There's nothing better if Germany wins against Netherlands in the finals. :P

Germany-Australia was definitely an improvement on previous games like everyone's been saying.

There's not much more I can add. It's good that Germany were just as interested as playing further after taking the lead rather than just leaving it as, erm, certain other teams seemed to have done. Australia have it in them to do better against Serbia and Ghana I think, but losing Cahill was no good (I think the ref generally made the right decision, going by the tougher rules being implemented) - they need to work around that. That early chance of theirs could've changed the game somewhat, but the Germans were always going to be the better side here. I'd put them high on my predictions table.

I think the second place has blown quite wide open in Group D though.

Also, was this the first time in the tournament a ref went after players for what they seem to be referring to as 'simulation'? It worked, in my opinion. It was more enjoyable to watch when they weren't trying to break into acting constantly.

Best game of the tournament so far. Germany is looking pretty strong, great team as always.

And finally, vuvuzelas have been banned from stadiums, due to Tv broadcasters complains.
I really dont mind the noise, but I'm pretty sure people there was sick about them, heard about people with really bad headaches, and about players struggling to hear their coach instructions.

4-0. What the motherfuck, Australia?

But congrats on the win, Germany. Very good game indeed.

Predictions- This one's easy.

Paraguay vs. Italy

Paraguay will try and put up a fight, but knowing Italy, it's going to be Italy's game.

Netherlands vs. Denmark

Netherlands.

What a shame, Mister Jensen.
I never asked for this, Mister Denton.

Germany's looking very good as usual, looking foward for Portugal, Brazil, Italy and Netherlands.
Looks like England's needing to tighten up a bit though. USA had a lucky goal, but you can't have one of those all the time, so it doesn't really make them any better, let's just see how they deal with Algeria and Slovenia though, I bet they'll make it to the 8ths though.

In anticipation for tomorrow, and to get the Dutch users amongst us snarking, I present to you all a somewhat infamous football clip. I remember watching this match myself back in '96.

lol, and it goes in anyway. Great chip.

Also, do we have any links for this? I can't find any specifics, only speculative articles referring to FIFA, and we know what sort of an organisation FIFA is, as has already been mentioned.

Admittedly, a lot is lost in the coverage via vuvuzelas that could generally get people going mad for the World Cup, but it's sad that if this is true, that they caved in for TV demand. It's sad that that drives sports at the end of the day. Eh, don't mind me here.

Some comments in British papers have been particularly xenophobic: 'Who let the locals in?'

Yeah, this is why I don't like my country holding international sporting events.
