Was it just your mobo? Or did pretty much everything on it die? Chances are replacing the mobo would be relatively cheap and easy. Whenever I have a mobo go out on me though usually it takes the CPU and RAM with it...

Teach them Cubase instead. :P
And tell them about EWQL Gold :P

Moral dilemma right here.

Although in all seriousness we're planning on first giving them a quick introduction to the software and showing them a version of What I Found (a project file that comes with every purchase of FL) which we shortened by less than 1/4 of its original length and slapped an ending on. Then we'll show them how to use the playlist and browser by combining some duplo loops together that we've hand-picked from a selection of Vengeance loops. Yes, we're audio mods and we're doing exactly what we're supposed to be banning. Deal with it.
After that we'll take another premade loop and build a melody and drum beat on top of it to show them how to use the piano roll and step sequencer respectively, and then we'll give them 20 minutes of their own to experiment with the software and create some drums to go with a loop we've prepared in each computer of theirs. At the end, we'll teach them how to export, and whoever wants can export the track as MP3, save it in the shared disk, we'll go through each one and at the end we'll say which one's the best. We plan on having them working in groups of two. Finally, we'll tell them to write our email addresses down in their diaries in case they're interested in buying it (or at least getting the demo themselves) or if they have any questions.
Of course this doesn't do FL nearly enough justice, and we're not showing them tonnes of other awesome stuff like automation clips, mixer effects, VSTs, etc, but remember we're only given 1 hour 20 minutes per class and these are 11-year-old kids we're talking about. They'd be more interested in having some fun with the software rather than learning the nitty gritty of it at such an early stage.

Anyone else having trouble uploading audio? -_- It begins to upload in my project manager, then stops, no matter how many browsers/times I try. I'll try from a different computer later.
So it has been reported that deadmau5 is going to completely replace his live setup

(Sadly he won't be using the holodesk even though it was an amazing concept)
I'm hoping he goes to a setup similar to the one used in his unhooked live set

I dont know what to think about the Emulator DVS style DJing. I mean...its cool but seems clunky for performance.

Inhaling Alcohol
Since when was this a thing? Have any of you tried it? I suggest not doing it, considering how it doesn't affect you the same way. Obviously.
Honestly, a few extra calories is the last thing on my mind... I'd rather just drink it instead and leave my lungs out of it

Echo and I have been hired to teach FL Studio to three different classes of children, three days from now. We're allocated 1 hour 20 minutes for each class and in that time period we need to teach each class enough of the right things to get them started on the software and interested in pursuing a hobby making music.
Any ideas on how we can do that?
We just came back from it, in case anyone's curious.
I am exhausted. However the kids loved it to bits. They got really excited when we showed them demonstrations of how to make music, and when they heard everything come together they got so excited that they didn't even allow Echo to finish and just went straight on to experimentation. One of the classes even wanted to keep on going on FL Studio during the lunchbreak, but the ICT teacher who was with us to help us out didn't let them because WE needed a break haha.
They behaved a lot more than I expected though, and some picked up the concept of patterns without us even teaching it to them in time. We had to help people through making simple drum beats and using the piano roll though, but towards the end some started to really get the hang of it. We didn't have much time to show them stuff but I suspect that a lot of them will go home and download the demo of FL Studio. Which is cool.

Loudness war
I think we're all aware what the loudness war is about, if not, this makes it pretty clear I think: http://www.dynamicrange.de/
I was just linked to something pretty interesting related to it: The dynamic range database, a database full of albums and their dynamic range scale. http://www.dr.loudness-war.info/
Thought you guys might find that interesting.
