NGADM R.3
IO Vs SourJovis

Best of luck!

Sorry for the upload time, between last moment work, rendering (+40 minutes and not on a high sample rate/interpolation setting) and uploading, I had time problems.

Title is tentative - no time to come up with something I felt was "Perfect ".

Really love the production on this. These low synths get under my skin nicely (in the "Compelling and engaging" sense of the expression).

NGADM Review

The first few seconds into this song I thought to myself “this is going to be interesting”...and I was right! At first I thought the introduction was going to take a very 'Daft Punk' stylistic turn, but you surprised me! This is one hell of a catchy track; everything is mixed appropriately. As always, you've thrown in some amazing tweaks and effects that cannot be ignored (such as those glitchy bends). The bassier, lower end of the song is simply phenomenal.

Repetition is this the Achilles' heel of this track, it seems the same patterns are revamped and used throughout the entire track (though they are very catchy). The rhythm sounded kind of generic, specifically at 1:45...but again, very funky stuff that you can't help but move your head to, you know?

Great stuff IO, love it! :)

Score: 8.75/10

What I liked:
-Groovy. I really love the feel of this piece.
-Love the bass.
-Everything is mixed pretty well.
-Did I mention this is funky?

What could have been better:
-Some of the vocal samples were a little odd.
-Feels a little repetitive overall.
-Would have liked more of a melody to be present.

Very funky, IO. I dig it. Great job!

Score: 8.4/10

Now this is an interesting piece. You've got a wide variety of very well-designed sounds, and I just love how punchy and liquid the bassier sounds come off. The intro is instantly absorbing and well-produced, and you make use of a very driving rhythm which moves the piece very well.

However, you do have some repetitiveness throughout, and certain bits sounded a bit empty compared to what you proved you could do in the intro. The ending was a bit too abrupt for my tastes, and the piece hadn't gone anywhere much by the time it got there, so development of ideas is also an issue.

Overall, pretty decent piece. You've got great ideas and lots of potential, pity you weren't able to work on this longer.

- NGADM Round 3 Review -

As usual, you've got great sounds and rhythm. However, even with all the cool effects and attempt at variation, this track does suffer from repetitiveness and a bit of emptiness, along with the same general structural ideas used in each of your entries. And the ending was pretty lame, unlike your very nice intro. Nice title, too, by the way. It adds a certain imagery to the listening experience that I am particularly fond of. It's a shame you weren't able to put more time into this, though. I can't help but imagine what this could have sounded like if you were able to work on it more.

Score: 8.4

InvisibleObserver responds:

Fortunantly post competition, the file won't have disintegrated, so I'll get to have more time with it. :)

Really enjoyed reading your comment about the titling, given I write lyricless music, I still try to form some sort of direction or narrative out of the title if I can.
