My interpretation of John Cage's 4'33''.
I played it a lot faster then he did, so my piece only lasts 2'29''. Hope that's not too fast for you ;) . Enjoy!

scores of 4 and 3!? THIS IS MADNESS! Those were some of the most wonderful chord progressions I've ever heard! Great job at giving this remix your own *awesome* personal flair, I dont see anything wrong with this. well, i guess it was a bit quiet tho, but it works!

"Enh."

There are a few bits of noise in the audio. I dunno if that's the mic hitting off something else or what.

I would have expected you to just leave the mic unplugged for this!

Regarding the piece - whether the sped-up version or the original - I guess the most interesting part is in the reactions. Sitting in a concert hall, I'd be interested to wee how others were reacting - specially on the opening night.

4:33 seems similar to Duchamp's urinal, which created the field of modern art. Uninspiring in and off itself, but its mere presence sent shockwaves through the field, though not necessarily changing it for the better.

"Ok I know this is a joke but..."

date: March 27, 2008

I know this is a joke, but i'm getting a little tired of it to be honest. This has been done so many times it is ridiculous. Anyway, I was under the impression that Cages 4'33 was meant to be a live performance, so that the music was in the sound of the audience (coughing etc).

I'm sorry if it is me not being able to take a joke, and it probably is, but this one is on deaths door. What ever will someone do next, play it in reverse, 'arrange' it? No matter how many time this 'music' tries to be spun, it is still the same old cliche s***.

Author's Response:

Well, this was only partial meant to be a joke. Mostly I wanted to see how people would react to this submission.

Yes, Cage's performance was a live performance. But it works here as well, I think. Anything you can hear outside (or inside) can be the music you are listening to (cars passing by, someone walking around, kids playing outside, etc.). But we aren't aware of those noises because we are busy doing other things (like listening to music ^^).

Anyway, thanks for the review!

i honestly think the speed brought out the emotion within the piece. really, i am left speechless. this is a masterpiece!

Author's Response:

Thanks, but I don't deserve this... credit belongs to John Cage, as he's the original author of this masterpiece!

i tried refreshing this page multiple times, and then the visualizer comes up but the track doesn't play- which is quite odd. So I downloaded it, but still just complete silence. So you may want to reupload this track.

....

(I hope I made you laugh a little :) )
