the game takes heavy *cough* inspiration from other games but it isn't judicious in what it takes so it ends up just being worse. you aren't really incentivized to swim off the raft so the item drop on death mechanic isn't punishing at all, and you're basically forced to die on night 1 since you get no food from drops
i also didn't realize you could scroll on the menus because the items fit cleanly into the window size and the scrollbar lacks contrast and is the same pale color as everything else
loot spawns are also kinda weird, they don't drift in from off screen but they just pop up and a lot of it despawns right in front of you so it can be pretty annoying. rocks are also scarce to the point where you can't get both a pick and a sword early on so you have to choose between being pelted by frog spit or rocks
funnily enough it also has the minecraft sleeping problem where you spam the bed and get told you can only sleep at night when it's already dark
