Reviews for "Dragonmyths"

i wanted to like this a lot more than I did but there are too many issues with it at the moment. Here's a quick list of things I noticed:

-There's no way to tell what level you are.
-you can't tell what level the enemies are without right-clicking and there's no indication that right-clicking even does anything in this game so if I hadn't played runescape before i wouldn't have even thought to try that.
-the vast majority of the enemies are way stronger than you even though you're in the starting area.
-it says your max health increases with attack level but it doesn't...
-it's basically a clone of runescape, which i wouldn't mind as much if the game was more cohesive.
-chickens break the laws of physics. if you follow them long enough they just disappear.
-there's no quick or obvious way to recover health and everything deals high damage even the low level enemies (2 and 3 is high damage when you only have 10 hp) so you have to spend too much time waiting to heal.
-since everythng seems to fucking slay you and you lose everythign when you die it's pretty much impossible to make progress.
-it's really unclear where anything is. are there shops? what use are these items? shoudl i sell them? where do i find things to heal? i can't really explore much because too far north or west and infected people kill me in a matter of seconds

This is a really good first attempt at something like this and it's obvious a lot of work went into this but you need to have more people test the game and get more feedback before releasing something like this because i hate to see so much potential underperform.

On the positive side the art is really cute and unique and the music and controls of the game are dope as well. I would honestly just work a lot more on this and rerelease it because it could be very dope.

I'd copy runescape a little less tho ;)

Maxiecole responds:

Hi, thanks for the detailed feedback!:)
A few questions,
what do you mean by "No way to tell what level you are?" Do you mean a general level of the character? Each skill has it's own level and can be viewed in the stats menu.
About the health problem, the third/fourth quest is practically a guide how to heal your health via potions and food. Before that it would be indeed hard to make significant progress.

I really do like this game, and I worked pretty hard, but I just can't do the last quest for several reasons:
-Save-state is wonky when saving. I'll save next to my house in case I die, travel somewhere, and then spawn where I traveled TO instead of where I saved when I load it, but with the same inventory as when I saved
-Piggybacking off the last point, I also spawn with my inventory rearranged and everything unequipped. This means that I'm stuck in a loop of being spawned naked next to a dragon, in my case
-This game seems to use ten tons of memory. I've never before gotten a message about Flash/Unity memory space being low in the 5 years I've used this for playing games, but I've now gotten it repeatedly since I started yours. "uploads.newgrounds.whatever" keeps giving me a notification about needing space and not loading the game, but even after I deleted enough to play, the game still filled up my memory again after five seconds.

Also, some suggestions are better inventory because of all the tools/magic, less grinding since it's monotonous, better armor to deal with the dragons, fix the lag if possible, and also maybe turn down the music? (my Flash volume is on 1 and it's full blast, ear-shatteringly loud)

Maxiecole responds:

Hey, thanks for the detailed review:)
I can't seem to replicate the bug you've describing with the weird saving except for the rearranged inventory. I will look into that.
Maybe the memory space being low has something to do with the wonky save states.
What exactly is my game filling up? Could you screenshot the warning you get?
What kind of lag are you experiencing? What browser are you using?
I'd appreciate a PM with a screenshot or something:)

It's a fun game, for the most part. The final quest seemed AWFULLY grindy, but I decided to tackle it anyway. Then after spending a couple hours making knight bars, I got killed by a dragon while trying to find gold, and lost ALL the equipment I'd spent the rest of the game making. Welp...that's it for me. Shame.

Maxiecole responds:

Thanks for the feedback, sorry you died D:

Really nice game. It could use some tweaks here and there like making you able to retrieve the loot when you died, make items stackable (at least make the chests bigger so you don't need 10 of them), the walking speed could be faster or boots could be used for better speed. There's a lot to tell to be improved here, but at the end it was worth my 2 hours playing it... I was about to end with the shield, but I got cocky against the dragon and died :(

Maxiecole responds:

Thank you for the feedback!
In the next patch you will have the option to choose three items to keep at death. Items will e stackable, walking speed will be faster. :)

I died and now my heath is stuck at zero. Potions and fish don't work. Refreshing didn't help. Otherwise this is a good game.
