Reviews for "The Pizza Man"

I never thought Shakespeare and rap could be combined. kudos!

... Swans are evil. (I got attacked by them when I was little and it traumatized me :D)

Great voice, you should make some rap songs ! A bit of Shakespeare vibes over here

DeSaGames responds:

D'awwww, why thank you!
Maybe, somewhere down the line one of the characters might spit a bar or two.

Voice...acting...is...a thing...i do...not...understand...please make...a...game...that...has...my completely...robotic...voice...acting...

DeSaGames responds:

Haha, yeah, the voices were done completely last minute. The next game will have a bit more planning put into it.

Pretty average. The rhyming ranges from decent to terrible. For example, you rhymed "darn" and "swan." At it's worst the rhymes are painfully forced. The art is also just average. It would have been nicer if it hadn't been drawn on paper. The voice acting is also poor, the actors give a bland, passionless delivery that makes most, not all, of the jokes fall flat. You can also hear an echo in most of the audio.

However, there are some things that are pretty good. The art style of the characters isn't bad, though it would have been better if it hadn't been drawn on paper. I like the idea of a porn game that turns out to be a rhyming game. It could be done better, but the concept is pretty funny. Also, even though I think that most of the jokes aren't funny, when there's a funny joke in this, it's really funny. The swan scenes and quiz scenes in particular were the comedic highlight of this game.

In the end, I do think the negatives do outweigh the positives. There is a really funny idea for a game here, but lackluster art, delivery, and jokes do make it absolutely forgettable. With some more effort, this could be a great game.

DeSaGames responds:

Ey yo! Thanks for the review!

The rhymes (and script for that matter) were written while I was in a horrid feverish state. Sometimes Swan and darn rhyme when you can barely see your fingers. Same thing with the voice acting, the male part was recorded by me whilst I was on a fair amount of medicine and the female part was recorded last minute by a friend simply so I would have something to stick together in the two days that I took off to recuperate.
I'll be sure to pass on the compliments on the art to my artist. The next game we're making is still going to use paper based characters but the colouring and scanning should be a bit more adapted to flash, hopefully somewhere along the line we'll pass into tablet drawing territory.
At the end of the day this game wasn't meant to be the highlight of how well me and my team can chuck together a game, simply a small passion project to occupy me for a couple hours so I don't go nuts coughing out my lungs. Hopefully the next game will be more to your liking.

Thanks for the review and constructive criticism! It's always a pleasure to see someone take the time out of their day to write about our work.
