Reviews for "Sinmara Saga"

Not Super Smash Brothers Melee but ok

(This is long, but please at least read the final thoughts. The rest is intended as constructive criticism.)
I enjoyed the animation itself, but it didn't feel much like a love letter to me. It would work as a standalone animation fine, but as an homage...
1. Nobody would go against the final boss at level 12.
2. A level 12 character would not have 365 HP.
3. Nobody would be at the final boss in only a spit over 2 hours. Conversely, a character would be sufficiently over level 12 in over 2 hours of gameplay.
4. Quicktime events at the SNES level were incredibly rare and would not likely be seen in an RPG, and even if it was, it would be a single button press at the start of their round.
5. If it was action combat and not turn based, then the button could be pressed at the time of the attack, but it would not have a menu of that style. Instead, it would ask the 'Attack' 'Defend' 'Item' 'Escape' thing in the first menu, then it would keep you in the attack menu until you hit the back button to return to that first menu.
6. Nobody would spam 'Escape' on the final boss or any boss because escape is futile.
7. Even if this was action combat based and not turn based, the menu still didn't appear frequently enough. You either need the animation to obviously show each person moving on their turn and eliminate the menu or show the menu each turn, even just as a background image as they attack.
8. Why was she alone? Nobody in an SNES RPG was alone during important battles (and the rare times they were forced to be alone was during specific quests where the party was asleep or other such reasons). The concept of facing the final boss alone was very rarely used before the MMORPG cliché stuck its nose into single player RPGs around the N64 era, roughly. Even assuming that this was a rare game that made the main character face the final boss alone, they would have a party behind them until they entered the cave, then a small dialogue exchange would occur and then the hero would enter alone. (If this was Legend of Zelda-esque, then more items needed to be used, as lone heroes always stayed alive thanks to their inventory.)

There are potentially more, but I'm not trying to pick it apart piece by piece. This is by no means meant to be mean or an attack. Instead, this is simply what I noticed whilst watching it. I am a huge RPG fan, and I love seeing awesome RPG inspired videos. The opening was really cool-reminded me of both Final Fantasy and Metriod-and the animation style is pretty sweet as well.

I would suggest either refreshing your mind with some sweet SNES action or simply making an animation about newer RPGs than the SNES era. As I said, it's the setting that kills it, really. Taking it just as an animation, it's really cool. Either way, I'd like to see more animations like this one. There's no doubt that the talent is there.

2 words: game genie. Would love to see the player apply this in the fight and watch how the tables have turned.

i don't like the character design but the movie is really cool :D !

Well, I don't like your face! Glad you liked it!
