Reviews for "Another"

It's really interesting to see this next to "And the Birds Flew", and seeing it as what I'd imagine you thought of in your OG newgrounds days as your future masterpiece.

Watching this realist approach is really interesting in animation, and especially with the heavy easing you used. It's tense the entire time, but just keeps slowly rolling forward; all in spite of it's narrative's hum-drum surreality and the shear will power to animate it in the way you did.

It's aesthetic feels akin to a grindstone in every way possible.

Great work!

wh347 responds:

Thanks man!

Yeah, what a nightmare this thing was to animate. I had a couple of little things between this and "And the Birds Flew", but you're right that this one was definitely the "Ok, time a make my big hand-drawn masterpiece". Yikes!

i've seen this sitting for years on vimeo, but never actually took the time to watch it. really glad i finally gave it its 17 minutes. don't know that i ever would have if you hadn't uploaded it here. thanks for deciding to pop it up on newgrounds, hope you keep doing so in the future!

wh347 responds:

Awesome, thanks for watching. And believe me, I can sympathize with avoiding long films on Vimeo. I definitely plan to put my stuff up here in the future!

Nice animation and Funny faces at the end. But... is not it supposed that the bears sleep-dead in the winter? Or is it an urban legend?

wh347 responds:

Yeah, the bear should probably be hibernating during the winter, but I figure this bear is in sort of a special situation. I tried to make him seem sort of sleepy during that section though.

I will always respect and admire this film. It's such a stunning display of mastery of the animated medium. The story itself is a great demonstration of what the true capabilities are of animation. I love your work! Keep pushing boundaries and inspiring us all!

That was surreal.

Amazing, but surreal.

wh347 responds:

Thanks for the review, haha! Yeah, it definitely takes a little leap of faith and suspension of disbelief. Thanks for watching!
