awesome game, but i don't get any hero spirits. can anyone tell me how you get hero spirits?

Since the update i feel like my Hero Spirits aren't giving my speed bonus. Outside of that a great game that has kept me addicted.

Stopped playing due to bug with managing free space and firing hired hands. I'll come back later.
