Reviews for "The pandora's box"

Very good series. Hate to say it but each chapter is shorter and easier than previous installment. Unexpected ending. Took me a while to understand why the environment is so different from previous chapters.

Josepho responds:

Thanks for the feedback I will try to fix this for my upcomming games

I have struggled with the mechanics of this trilogy vs. some others solely because the cursor does not change over key areas. That makes the game a bit of a clickfest, which can be annoying.

With that said, this is really a fun, surprisingly lengthy, and visually impressive game. The plot is far deeper than most escape-style games, and the ending is WELL worth the experience.

The puzzles are also intuitive and there are clear codes to navigate you through - no cheap stick points like in some other platforms that force you to click a walkthrough for increased traffic.

I really, really enjoyed this game and recommend it glowingly. Condolences for the loss of your friend; your joint project was a beautiful one.

Josepho responds:

Many thanks for your review, Im happy you enjoyed it :)

*I did not run into any of the issues listed in the previous reviews. Using Firefox on Windows 7 64bit.*

Fun little game. I preferred to play without the 3D effect so the toggle button was an excellent idea. The art style was interesting and the sound was great. The puzzles were intuitive and present a challenge without being overly difficult. It was a bit short for my taste but overall it was enjoyable.

My only quibble was with how the items interacted with the background. I tried the pen where it was supposed to be used for example, and instinctively I tried using the tip of the pin as a point and failed it several times. Later I went back and dropped it on the correct area(same area) using the center of the pen as the pointer and it worked. Not a big deal by any means but just thought it might confuse some.

Regardless once I realized this I enjoyed the rest of the game.

Sorry for the loss of your artist. Did this influence the ending of the game? If it's none of my business that's fine.

Josepho responds:

Hi, nope, we decided the end together at the beginning :|

There are some things in this game I liked and some I did not.

Things I Liked:
- Interesting storyline
- Diversity in puzzles
- Great art style
- Callback to the first game (with the Music Stone)
- Surprising ending

Things I Did Not Like:
- Despite the threat of Pandora's Box, the game didn't feel all that tense. There was no sense of urgency. Where is everyone in the facility? Why is no one trying to stop Alexia?
- Flashing back and forth between Alexia + friends and the facility was confusing, but I respect the choice in narrative structure, and it does make sense by the end. Just wish it was less confusing leading up to the big ending reveal.
- Some puzzles were a bit too unintuitive.
- Pixel hunting still sucks
- While the ending is unexpected, the emotional weight behind it falls flat because we barely know anything about Alexia. Why should we care?
- Didn't really feel like the last game in a trilogy

The developer is talented, and I look forward to their next project!

Bit simple, but the 3D effect was nice (and the option to turn it off when it gets too trippy/hard to control), also like the moving screen, makes finding objects a bit harder, the only problem is when you move your cursor down to select an item, the screen goes down with it, hotkeys for the items would be nice. What I couldn't stand is the advertisement and pops up every once a while and blocks the items...
