Reviews for "Phoenotopia"

I can't find the damn stick! It's either that hard to find, or a bug! The graphics are simple but awesome but I can't say no more because I'm still on the first damned part of the storyline

Absolutely love it!
Especially the music... reminds of the good old days of minecraft where people actually liked the music ;)
Anyway 5 star rating!

This game is absolutely beautiful and nostalgic, the music, the text sound, the start screen, the pixel art and the beginning!
1000,000,000,000/10 =')

Could rarely bring myself to stop playing game, as for the asteroid pieces that every one seems to be looking for i found the other one its in misty gorge near the moon stone in cave systems the other one you get from fran

This game truly deserves nothing less than the full 5 stars and the fact it can't get there is proof enough nothing can.

This was a surprisingly long game. I expected it to take a while but it took many hours more than I initially thought and I still never found absolutely everything.

I do have a few points though.
Hotkeys -- not helpful because you had to use your right hand to cross over to hit them because you were already using your left hand for attacking/etc, but that left you vulnerable as you couldn't walk. If the hotkeys were instead at the bottom of the Numpad perhaps that would have been a little bit better? 1, 2, 3, and 0 Numpad. Then you wouldn't have to move your hand completely off the arrows for it.

Alternately, movement could have been with WASD, with three arbitrary keys on the right side of the keyboard to do the ZXC stuff (say, JKL), and the hotkeys the keys right above those (UIOP). This would have eliminated a lot of otherwise unnecessary hand movement and perhaps would have been a more fluid control scheme.

The music in the game ranged from amazing to grating. Most of the music was pretty good, but particularly in I think it was Daea it was just an entirely too short repeating loop. Now, it's understandable it'd be a repeating loop -- that's pretty much how you have to do video game music, but I think what made this one particularly annoying was how short it was before the repeat. But maybe that's just me.

This game was exceptionally hard! And that's not a bad thing at all. I considered this to be a hard game and I'm a master of hard games and this was even hard for me.

Some stuff basically needed walkthroughs though, unfortunately. Which of course you provided in the FAQ. Still would have been better if entirely everything could be done intuitively. Particularly I had the problem getting into the prison and also had a problem trying to figure out how to beat that one Phoenix room boss which I guess you called the eye boss. Instead of those eyes, it would have probably been better to use those diamond-looking things from the monoliths since it would be more logical that, hey, you use that one item to deactivate those.

Found a bug with the second laser robot though. If you enter the room, die at the laser robot, and continue, he won't be there anymore.

Tons and tons of medals in this one and many of them looking to be quite difficult to achieve so it'll be interesting to see who attains them, especially Indomitable! and Speed Runner! but also lots of secret ones.

Again, this is easily one of the very best games on all of Newgrounds and it definitely deserves that front page banner treatment it currently enjoys. An instant game to add to anyone's favorites list for sure!

And you seem like you really care about your work a lot and have clearly put a lot of work and effort into this and it definitely shows! And thank you for choosing the Flash platform rather than Unity and sticking with a reasonable version of Flash too. (Unity doesn't work on as many things as Flash does)
