Reviews for "DungeonUp"

This game reminds me of Tower of the Sorcerer. Monsters, status system, items, the Altar, yellow/blue keys... Maybe it's the game who inspired this one? It's very likely you played TotS before, or a similar one. You should say that, otherwise people that know TotS may think you just copying an older and fairly unknown game (I am not implying that. Consider a suggestion ok?)

Also, not a roguelike. The combat mechanics itself disqualifies. But since it's funny to remember the old times, i give it a 3.5

You are totally right this game is heavily inspired by TotS, a game I loved since my childhood. I wrote something about the link between DungeonUp and TotS. You can find it here:

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add it to the comments.

Fun and solid game. The trick to the game is simple: do the math before you start moving on the level. Also, much of it is backtracking after powering up a bit. For example, once your defense makes you take zero damage, go back and collect money by killing weak monsters. While I'm on the topic of powering up, don't buy upgrades till the second altar (at least). It's much easier to wait before buying so that better upgrades are cheap. Final hint, watch for hidden passages on the walls.

Nice little game, although a litte unbalanced. I reached a point where I didn't have enough health to beat the enemies I needed to and not enough keys to reach areas in previous floors where I could access powerups. As there's no character levelling at all, the only reason beyond progress to beat enemies i for gold. Which is almost exclusively consumed by a greedy statue, which demands upwards of 200 coins for a measly 150 health after using it a few times. Even after pouring all my money into heath, I still had no hope of progress. I also felt I leanred nothing that would help me get further next time.

Adding some skill element to the combat (it's basically a numbers game at present) could improve things a little. Overall worth playing though.

This game is pretty good, I had a lot of fun, really like the combat and stat building, but what's up with the keys?

I ran out of yellow keys, was unable to proceed and I had to restart all of my progress, because i was playing <normal mode>. At first, I thought I may have used up too many keys to pick up upgrades, but as I started a new game, and because it's randomly generated, it got even worse, with even more yellow locks and fewer yellow keys. This makes progress impossible for non-casual mode. How can I proceed to the next floor like this?

I enjoyed this a lot, but I agree with previous reviewers that it is a bit pricey.
It is very similar to a game I remember playing years ago called Tower of the Sorcerer.
