Reviews for "Dream Hopper"

Askiisoft is the best.

I really loved this game. My only two complaints are the sound effects are rather loud, especially the fully charged shot, and it was too short, I wanted to play so much more.

WHAAAAAAAAAT!? Black screen? Wow, let's put this like: If this game was longer i would buy it.

So far, so god on this one.....

- Music: Music was nice and spot-on. Enjoyable there.
- Sound effects: Sound effects seemed appropriate and interacted in time with the action. Passing marks there.
- Controls: Controls work well. The jump, shoot, and movements controls all work how they're supposed to with the right reaction. Being able to adjust your jump mid-air is always a plus.
- Game Length: Game was relatively short. There have been shorter submissions, but this one isn't too long, either. You had one mid-boss and that's it. Wish this would be longer.
- Game difficulty is hard to judge here. There were several enemies that could attack you without you having much of an opportunity to attack back (more on that later). On the whole, the game wasn't too challenging.
- Enemies: There weren't too many here. You had two varieties of jellyfish, storm clouds, and snails. That's pretty much it for regular enemies. You also had slime mid-boss. A little more variety would have been nice, but with a smaller game, this works, I guess.
- Power-Ups: You had the charge gun, the sticky gloves, and the double-jump. I kind of like the ability to switch between the gloves and jump depending on what middle enemy you defeated... kind of like a Kirby mechanic with a timer. I liked that. With the charge-gun, I have a few issues with the charge mechanic: 1) You cannot jump and charge at the same time. This puts you at a disadvantage when enemies are spamming attacks from a higher platform (storm clouds). 2) The game slows completely down when you charge. The charge itself would be fine, but that severely limits when you can use the gun. If an enemy is above you, you cannot attack it. If an enemy is on an up-down motion, you have to time it perfectly, or else you'll be sitting for a minute waiting for the enemy to come within range. I would suggest that you have the ability to charge and jump... or at least not slow the game down (as much) for a charge (Mega Man style).
- Sprite animations were well done. The main character's tired, woozy walk was nice to look at.
- Ending was kind of weird. You know the main character can hop into other people's dreams, but why? Why is the main villain the person who is having a dream? Is the main protagonist just a part of the dream? Nothing really gets answered here.

I think that about does it for the break-down. Overall, it's a solid game with good core mechanics and nice concepts. The negatives here are that the game is short and feels incomplete. Use the same ideas and hash out a complete game/ game series and tie all your concepts together. Give a story to the walking protagonist and show him in other people's dreams and you'll be golden.

game is good. but is it slow in my pc or is it due to graphics?
