Reviews for "Battle Cry"

Finally beat it. Not a horrible game. The point system is a little annoying though.

Also, I dont know how the ladder thing works but it seems very seldom that my armies ever battle online... I can never find a ladder match when I seek for it either. Then some times its every round I play that I fight some one.

Love the concept, love the gameplay, love everything BUT your insane, horrible, stupid, tedious, repetitive, nonsensical grinding system.

Every level gives 200g after I've beaten it? So the only way to progress is to go run through the first level until I finally random good enough cards from packs? SOUNDS SUPER LETS DO IT. THOSE TWO ROWS OF KNIFE GUYS BETTER LUBE UP

BerzerkStudio responds:

You may want to not grind the same level over and over then? you get three times that much money winning in PvP, and keep getting money while you're not playing.

I usually don't like to make reviews anymore, but after seeing BerzerkStudio constantly say "Play the multi-player, you get more gold that way," whenever anyone brings up a complaint/critic about starving for gold...Then boy, do I have something to say.

If this game is designed with an online multi-player that also includes an alternative reward system for the player to reap, then why bother having a single-player/offline mode where there's -no- other alternative reward system other than grinding missions for 200 gold or paying real cash for gold? To me this seems like bullshit.

Don't get me wrong, I get it. I understand your original intentions, BerzerkStudio, but you can't simply tell a person to switch over to the online mode if they come across a road block relating to gold or the like. It only makes the offline/single-player mode seem all the more pointless. In fact, it makes it feel like the tacked-on-mode, when it should really be the other way around with multiplayer mode.

As for "You can beat the Offline mode with the rewards you get from previous missions," I also call bullshit, since it ultimately comes down to how lucky you are with card boosters. Once you get unlucky on the cards you get, have fun grinding up for gold.

Overall, you made a solid game, but you placed too much focus on the multi-player functionality over the single-player functionality. This game probably would have gotten 4+ stars from me if there was only an online mode or if the features in multi-player mode were also included in the offline mode.

BerzerkStudio responds:

We were more thinking of a healthy mix of both, diversifying your actions in game to progress. But we can see where you are coming from. All good points and duly noted. Thanks for the solid feedback!

The balance and point system are way off. I can see what the creator was trying to do, but it's missing something. Also, do the auras even work? I don't seem to be noticing any effect from them... but even if there is one, they don't seem cost effective. The game boils down to min-maxing for the most point efficient army half the time, and the other half you're just trying to find the piece to the puzzle that makes your army overcome the campaign's. It's not bad, but needs work.

How do you increase your points?
