Reviews for "Battle Cry"

The game is good when you have the time and will to play it. The game play is good and works great.

I've been playing this game for a few days now and I've finally decided to give my review.

I have to say first and foremost that my biggest gripe about this game is the rows system. I see the point in this - to give balance but that doesn't make me like it any better. Archers fire volleys at enemies thus it wouldn't matter where the enemy was on the field in relation to my archers, all my archers should fire at that unit. To keep balance, you should input an accuracy rating. You could even make elf units that have higher accuracy percentage and range.

One thing I would have liked a lot more is in-play controls. Nothing fancy just a few buttons for a little bit of squad control like the ability to have a group fire volleys at the nearest target or spread fire. Also, speed controls for each group in battle would be excellent. In one of my armies I have a really strong unit in the last row. I don't want him advancing out until all of my other units are gone so I tell him to hold. Once he starts moving though, he moves slow. I should be able to tell him to move fast during battle. Squad formation buttons would be good too so you can manage your troops as they die. Considering this isn't true multiplayer, all of these things could be accomplished simply by making a pause button that takes you into a different armies menu with all your in-battle options. Making mages capable of moving mid-battle would be good. Making cavalry charges would be good. Shielded units could make slow advances that raise their defense and make them immune to piercing and slashing attacks [blunt weapons were designed to break arms behind shields so that should be excluded]. Etc. I'm sure you could think of some ideas as well and I have more.

I also agree with one reviewer that there just isn't enough to the game. Don't get me wrong, I definitely like it I just think it gets repetitive and after a while, mundane. I would have liked to see challenges as well as different game modes.

I do also think there should be ways to increase your battle points. I see a common strategy that does extremely well in the ladders - quantity over quality. That defeats the purpose of spending money on the game because it's simple to overload your army with peon units and win thus making it less necessary to have legendary equipment [I have a peon army]. More battle points certainly would give those with legendary equipment in their armies an advantage. I have quite a bit of legendary equipment and one of my armies has only 5 units in it. Once I get to the fourth ladder it gets crushed by everyone who has a crap ton of peon units. I know just 2 more units of that strength and I'd crush them and any other amount of peon units that are added.

One of the reasons why this game is so good and addicting is the same reason why this game could be a lot better: variety. I love the variety in this game. There is more than sufficient equipment and cool stuff to satisfy my "looting" craving, as it's called in borderlands, and I love the randomness of it all. I won't complain about the lack of acquiring good stuff because it forces you to use what you are given to succeed and as far as other pay games are concerned, you definitely don't have to pay to get the best gear so thank you for that one. Why I mention the variety in a negative light though is because of all the things I mentioned before. This game lacks gameplay variety. In fact, this is more like a card game without the imagination aspect because it's all illustrated in battle. The problem is, this is a video game not Magic the Gathering [which I love].

--------- 3.5/5 ---------

I cant log out and I want to new game (TT~TT) 3.5/5
reason : in campaign mode let us see thir army so the players may allow them to fix their strategy against the opponent
pls allow players to chat one another
allow players to log out pls I wanna start a new game Im still a noob at this please

Ok, this is an awesome game for the most part. The ability to create and customize your own units is brilliantly implemented, the depth of the stats and army arrangements make for a wide variety of strategies, and the packs give it a TCG-feel. However, there are a few things that kill the buzz.

1) The inability to see what equipment your opponents are using removes most of the "strategy" aspect from the campaign. For example: when I first encountered the Lizards in Chapter 2, my armies were systematically butchered by the lizard archers. Since I had (still have) no idea what bows they were using, I had no way to counter it.

2) The PvP. There is NO strategy involved there. It's not possible, simply because it's so random. For the same reason, my first point above is a moot point for PvP, because you're unlikely to ever face the same army twice. Your best shot at winning is to throw together the most powerful arrangement you can think of and pray for the best.

3) That infinite undead exploit... It's brutal. You can't beat it. One of my armies has a unit wielding a Saint Blade and riding a Mech Beast, so it heals for 4 points on every kill. I faced an army using the infinite undead thing, and my unit mentioned above, after all my other units had been killed, was still hacking away at a wall of skeletons. I left them to fight it out for 10 minutes before I hit the "Concede" button for lack of progress, and by that time, every slot on the enemy's side of the field had filled with undead. Until this is fixed, PvP is a lost cause..

Sorry about the lengthy review, but there is SO MUCH POTENTIAL for this game!

In short i loved the game an all. Make atleast a mode where you will have no points limit because it always feel way too little. Battles got too hard so i had to farm survival mode for gold to buy packs for better item/creatures. Getting those items to destroy that one army with those items you dont have counters to will have you buying those packs again and again and again (dont forget the farming!). Otherwise the game was awesome i liked the graphics and they fit the game nicely. The fights were pretty much just 1 shotting enemies or getting one shotted. Story was okay an all and im hoping for a sequel (or atleast some updates which will make it "better").
