Reviews for "Man Who Sold The World"

I managed to jump THROUGH the plane on the third level and land on the top of it with no way to get out. Leapt off into an infinite abyss. :P Interesting game though. Glad there was a save feature.

The musical piece for the third level was too repetitive, beyond a doubt. The others were all pretty well done.

The story feels... somewhat lacking. You begin with a very interesting premise; the world is going to end and you were chosen to catalog the finer points of human nature. But you limit yourself to three facets of human nature; furthermore, you refuse to delve into the darker side of human nature. I would have been fine with this if the "Eternal" being said specifically something regarding war, strife, anger, etc, but everything feels "glossed over" in the end. There are nearly one hundred virtues you could have chosen from, and settling it down to four feels empty and contrived, and there was so much potential for depth paved over with arbitrary platforming.

I say arbitrary platforming because the gameplay was also lacking. The only "tricks" one must learn is climbing vines (which is a substandard "trick" all told, since failing a vine jump is usually a matter of luck with the controls, not skill) and jumping. Compare this to the grandaddy of good platforming, Mario, where you have to learn jumping, timing which platforms you leap on, aiming fireballs mid-air, balancing risk with facing the boss at the end... and that's a game made in the 80's. You have a great deal of gaming history to look back on if you want to make more engaging gameplay in the future.

Still, you're on the right track. The game had some tricky jumps, the pieces of eternity were pretty hard to find in some cases, and even if the story failed to deliver, the premise was definitely one that deserved a game, or at least a movie.

the game itself is easy u just gotta jump from the bottom instead of the top of vines oh yea decent and i chose wisdom what everybody else picked

I don't know why people are thinking the vines are hard to pass. It's actually pretty easy really. Just don't move when your jumping to another vine/platform. Just simply press jump(without moving) and everything goes smoothly.

But I would like to know what the last secret medal is. Is it really collect all 9 pieces of eternity?

i found the soundtrack a little annoying.

The game was fun and simple, but some of the vine puzzles, especially those in Campbell cave, are ridiculously difficult.
