Reviews for "Scarlet Stranger"

cursed ring sold

but my max money is 999, so I can't buy it again =(

interesting idea, however...

it is not well executed. there are many glitches that other members have already mentioned, including the button stick if you accidentally hold in one of the arrow buttons when you go into another room and getting stuck on top of treasure chests. the game also gets pretty repetitive after the first 5 or 10 rooms. one of my favorite aspects of the game was the crafting and how you had to use that to proceed in the game; but, it was much to simplified. if you would have added the ability to customize weapons, it would have made a great dynamic. also, you took an interesting aspect of the game and did nothing with it; (SPOILER) the changing castle was actually a pretty cool idea, but you made the timer way too long. it would have been interesting if you went to a different part of the castle or if the rooms switched around completely. the long timer made none of that possible. a lot of potential, but not enough work and creativity. music- repetitive and annoying; artwork- not bad, i kinda liked it; animation and programming- glitchy and prone to lag; plot- underdeveloped.

I can't play this.

It's way too buggy and it's also way too slow, even at low quality.

I was having so much fun

But then I opened a chest in one of the "?" rooms and got blue-screened.
The culprit? Critical system memory overload during flash playback.
This was the only foreground element running, and definitely the only flash element. I've run system diagnostics and stress tests, too, so I know it's not a hardware issue.

I don't know what was in the box, but apparently it needed more then 8GB of RAM to load. Which is a shame because I was genuinely enjoying the game up to that point.
It's stylish and entertaining, and the idea of an entirely randomly-geneartaed play environment that resets on the hour is nifty-as-shit.

I didn't run into any of the other bugs people have been complaining about, but I did only see one iteration of the dungeon before the BSoD, and you can argue that the one bug I DID see was pretty severe.
If it weren't for the fear of another system crash, I'd definitely play again.

So, 9 stars for the game (could get a bit repetitive at times, but not enough to make the experience boring). -5 for making me think my computer died.

The game seems bland from what I've seen of it, though I admit I could not finish it. I was already borderline dead from boredom, then my character glitched on top of a chest. Work out the bugs, and maybe I'd change my opinion, but otherwise I'd warn people to either steer clear of this one or if you really want to try it, do NOT jump on chests.
