This is extremely well put if you understand it (It took me minimal thought actually)
But I realy like the way you animate. Adds hand drawn with 3D sorta. I realy hope to see more work like this from you good job.

Wow... But really that was creepy as hell in parts
I guess the symbolism is pretty open for interpretation but I loved the way the angels were shown

This short animation was original and amazing...a wonderfully collaborated explosion of well drawn animation sequences, music and plot that flew out to me from my computer screen...
Now for the bulk of my review...*ahem*
Personally I didn't have an issue with your pre-production, I thought it was interesting how you went about creating this, and the end result was fantastic so I believe that justifies whatever means you took to create it, I couldn't get over how well the backgrounds were beautifully drawn, it really did look like something out of a story book. Also it shows people how many different ways you can use to produce a great animation.
The music complemented your short animation very well...it built the atmosphere of the landscapes the characters were in, as well as highlighted the emotions presented in the film...very nice
Which leads onto my next point...the story. I was intrigued by how you said the animation was about an angel sent to the plains of purgatory. It made me think of all sorts of ways the animation could be interpreted...
To me, the angel seemed to be someone that could not conform to the expectations of the society of heaven and so it appeared the angel was deemed a danger to the society and became an outcast, all the while the angel was tormented by feelings of guilt, anger and loneliness...yet the irony was that the angel would be recalled back to heaven in attempts to make the angel conform; afterall, purgatory is not the same as hell...of course that's my probably crappy interpretation of the film, and I have a feeling it will change over time as I watch it more...lols
But nonetheless the animation brings all sorts of other themes to mind: utopia vs. dystopia, illusion vs. reality, to conform or not to conform, definition of true happiness and the concept of reward and punishment...etc...its interesting how this short was able to encompass so many different themes :)
My only real complaint is that after watching this animation over and over again, I felt the need for the world of Purged to be explored further, I'm kind of sad that it was all over in 3 minutes...I've got this gnawing feeling of unsatisfaction because I really want more...
But anyway keep up the awesome work! :D
