Reviews for "[RESPAWN]"

Good

The idea of bringing around a platform you can respawn on and then dying to your advantage is an interesting concept. The graphics remind me a bit of VVVVVV, but the overall game mechanics are radically different and focus on more of a puzzle-oriented platforming experience which is good.

The music isn't bad, but it seems a little bit standard for 8-bit-style platformers. The controls aren't very good, but the puzzles make up for it. All-in-all good game.

Hmm... Yes.

A promising game with poor controls and few bugs. (No Offense)

How did you come up with the idea for this game?

And what message were you trying to get across by the ending monologues? (I'd especially want to know what you mean by "You Only get one chance to Respawn)

Good game, if bugs and controls were fixed it would be 9/10, but becuse of that I lowered it one point.

JonBro responds:

Ah, well, thanks for your thoughts.
To answer your questions: I don't remember how I came up with the idea, but I was probably playing a game with respawn points at the time. The message at the end was supposed to subtly imply that there's a Heaven and a Hell but it probably could have other meanings.

:o :S :<

Two points off for making me feel bad for being greedy and taking the coin! : <

I thought it was a fun game, controls responded fine for me. A bit of a light touch is needed, but nothing stuck. Using Firefox, so the browser thing might be true.

Level 19 was a nice change from all that nasty thinking I had to do for the other levels XD

I have a weak spot for this kind of music, and it definitely meshes well with the art.

The color difference between the two endings was a nice touch - it's a small change, but for some reason was able to make the dark ending depress the heck out of me while the light ending was, well, light.

The message thing was kind of mean, but funny all the same. I spent a good few minutes trying to get the third(?) coin before giving up and moving on, just to have you tell me I could pick up the respawn >:O

You attempt at scenery at the end was kind of nice - if you make more games in the future, having some of that around wouldn't be too bad.

For something made in two weeks, it really isn't bad. If you put some thought into a concept and story, and really spent some time developing it, I think you could really make something pretty cool.

Fun, but...

I don't know if this was the result of the game, or my own computer, but leaving the game at level 15 wiped all of my progress.

Controls took only a little bit of getting used to, and the levels were entertaining. A good game overall.

Great game but...

I have to agree with Zoomaa, even though it might be my computer.

I really can't level off saying it's too fun because I stopped at 3. The glitchyness was too annoying (it's not your game, it happends on alot of others.)
