Reviews for "Gray - Physics Engine"

I only changed one parameter

I changed the friction from .5 to .75
Kept max left/right at -8/8 respectively
Gravity at .9
Max fall 18
Jump start -10.5
Those settings felt very comfortable and typical of platformer games with the apparent graphics and proportions.
Can't wait to play the game :)

TBearify responds:

I'll make sure to turn the friction up a bit before publishing ^^ Thanks mate

My preferneces:

Friction: between 1 and 1.2
Max Right/Left: between 6 and 7
Gravity: between .6 and .9
Max Fall: between 12 and 15 depending on gravity

And the jump height is totally up to your level design. Good luck, you have a nice engine starting here, I'll be waiting for the finished product. Also, this current engine has terrible bugs. My character moon-walks whenever I run to the edge and stop and he can also jump from the sides of things as though there was a ledge in mid-air. Sometimes he gets stuck moving too and I have to press the same direction again to fix it. Finally, there is intermittent delay in the controls; especially the jumping.

Make sure to fix those things before the final release.

TBearify responds:

Thankies [: I'll try out your preferences at once. Yeah, those bugs are caused as soon as the numbers are changed to a value that doesn't work with the formulas of the game. I'll make sure to fix it before I publish the game C=

Great Engine!

Friction: 1.5 - 2. I thought anything less than 1 made the game too "icey".

Max left/right: -4/4. This allowed the character to barely make some jumps, but have some extra room for error on others.

Gravity: .8. The default .9 was alright, but it could use a little more floaty-ness to it. Letting the player move the character mid-air while they still had time.

Jump Start: -10. The default was great, but a little less wouldn't hurt.

Max fall: Default. It's fine as it is.

Just as a side-note: This is a great idea, allowing users to look at the physics of a game before you publish it. Good luck with the final product!

TBearify responds:

Thanks, I'll see what I can do d= Can't decide whether I want a bit of ice-effect, or none at all xD

Hehhe, yup it makes it easier for me to see what you people want! :D

I quite liked the game

But it would have been nicer to give instructions on moving the character. Sure I get not explaining the settings cause we're supposed to go experimenting it out, but I had to click wasd before the arrow buttons, and the up arrow before the space button in order to find out how to control the figure.

But nevertheless, I liked the simulation.

TBearify responds:

Ah of course, how could I forget xD I'll make sure to put the keys in the description at least, hehhe. Thankies [:

can't wait

this looks like it is going to be and excellent game. the only thing i changed was the lefft and right to 5. i felt as if the whole game was on ice at 8. but everything else seemed to be at the right spot. i tried changing friction and it stuck my character into an infinite running sprite. but all in all, this looks like it will be an excellent game that i cant wait to play.

TBearify responds:

Just tried out changing the maxleft and maxright values to 5, and I think I might go with that :) Though I might tweak the friction a bit to increase the speed. Thanks man!
