Got a really nostalgic Metroid feeling off this.
Brilliant
I don't think this is one of those games where you sit down for a bit and beat it and move on. I think this is my 3rd time coming back to my saved file, and I finally managed to get all three secret areas, and all of the gems - amongst all the chaos that insued. The coding effect of the glitchy surroundings and music was great. I mean, it was difficult to play, but when I finally got 27 and it turned into atari-looking super basic graphics, I was just totally mindfucked by that point. The music didn't help, lol. It wasn't even relieving at that point, just more of a scared feeling like GET ME OFF THIS PLANET!!
The game does a good job of having an almost eerie and abandoned feel to it. The music suits it very well, and when it starts to glitch things get really weird. Most of the different tasks I had to complete were fun. Some of them tricky, but they seemed to have ranging difficulty. Some you had to sit and look at the map for a second and think, "okay...how the fuck am I going to drop down from there??" It kept me entertained for quite some time.
Overall I think this is a brilliant game. One of the best I've played here at newgrounds. The main character is a likeable, nameless, totally devoid of character, astronnaut - and you're deserted on a creepy planet with no other choice but to collect gems in difficult to reach places to fuel your ship. As you collect these gems, the world grows more and more unstable, until it almost collapses into nothing...a world devoid of any detail...and at that point you can't even use 'warp to ship'. Just brilliant.
I enjoyed it very much, and I look forward to playing any other games you submit. This and depict1 are among my favorites here. Keep up the amazing work, and make sure to add some medals to your next game as well =)
Incredible.
The music, the atmosphere, the artwork. It was all just totally incredible. Gave off a vibe similar to Super Metroid, which is no easy thing to do. I can't wait to see more of your work.
