Reviews for "Greater Fighter"

Repetative and Boring!

But Its an ok game

Potential is there but..

God its awfull .. but.. God it could work!

But my main gripe is similar to what "TheRAdicalOne" said. Speed is everything... but ill add;

-The game is way too slow-paced ; ennemy takes ages to make their decisions, combat is slow early since we are so weak, leveling early is SLOW

-Random bullet-hell ennemies are pointless and not fair, really. Are all combat going to be the same way again and again? asteroids, bullet hell balls and one "boss"? Make it more diverse than that.

-"support" system is broken, half the time it works completely against you; -Silence-, above all else, is just screwing with the player for no other reason that it can, seriously what is the point of arbritrrily taking away the fun out of the game for the player? Double damage hardly made a difference, repair was nice but most of our dudes die quite fast so meh.

-Cute colored gems are pointless to explain stats, even when you explain what they do before.. make the symbols linked to the thing they represent! That way, a glace tells you the info you need, you dont even NEED to make a guess. A small arrow for speed, shield for armor, and a explosion for damage output is clear. Would be nice to see the movement/gun patterns on that screen too.

-the tactical movement system doesnt do anything usefull; it doesnt matter how you attack the ennemy, the same battle screen appear.

Some characters are useless, the robot one is simple a waste of a character; useless gun, useless move, and little health. I litteraly sent him to his death so i didnt have to bother controling him.. same with the slow shotgun "girl". She was too slow to attack so i missed nearly all opportunities to inflict damage on quick ennemies.. and they are many.
.. now that i think about it i didnt fuse my men together.. meh, i prefer them dead anyway.

- Ennemies arent balanced, some are predictable however.
-Cant outrun the boss if he catch up to us, and hit way too had.

Sammy was so-so, only bothered using him.

I stopped bothering trying to beat the game when i kept getting silenced again and again, and the boss kept on attacking me non-stop.

Basically, while the stuff you made is kind of nice, nice characterization, nice system as far as i seen and its functionnal, but it isnt very enjoyable nor very effective for what you seem to aim for. You just need to tweak a few things here and there, and that game wil rock.

About difficulty and bad sponsoring choices

The shooter sequences are clearly too difficult, and I don't know why I didn't manage to shoot with the girl character.

I also want to point out that you made really bad sponsoring choices, choosing to put sponsor links "PLAY MORE GAMES" not only on menus, but even during the game sequences. You shouldn't sell your soul so easily.

I REALLY wanted to like this game...

Such a GREAT CONCEPT! Units in a shoot em up with unique characteristics fighting and leveling up a la fire emblem. When I started playing it I did love it for a while... unfortunately it just had too many weaknesses to support its great concept. The characters don't level up unless they get A LOT of hits on the enemy. This favors rapid fire units over the power units. In most RPGs of this nature when an enemy unit is destroyed the destroyer gets a significant amount of experience when he accomplishes this feat. In this game you get NO bonus for destroying a unit, only for hitting them. It doesn't even matter what level as far as I could tell. Thus, the best way to train is to keep fighting the level 5's over and over and OVER again. If I'm missing some key concept for leveling up then it should have been more adequately explained. The bought characters was a good concept but without the secondary fire or support abilities, they are only one dimensional. Not only that, but they are LEVEL 1, so they are bad at their one dimensional play. New characters can't do anything! You have to go through the first level with them about 7 times before they can dent the next level. Lastly, the rule system was clever, but it seemed too hard to manipulate. I would retreat when I was on a silence to avoid fighting in those conditions but it didn't go away! It stuck around for the enemy and then I was stuck dodging bullets and wondering whether I should just let the level 1 die so I could start having fun shooting back or not. I admit that there was a learning curve to this game and that's not my issue. Even if you dodge perfectly you do negligible damage if you're a low level.

Again I really liked the concept of this game, and I hope it is reworked, it is fun attacking with a variety of characters to mix up the action. However, with the game in its current state most of the slower fire characters are near impossible to level up. I'm looking forward to seeing this new look on a classic genre done correctly.

wow,,

Way too difficult. so there fore the games stupid and a waste of time
