Reviews for "Kingdoms"

Well, it's getting there

A nice turn based strategy game, that could use things like a soundtrack to really get the piece going. I'd suggest that you look around the Audio Portal, as it's the best place to find music that would suit your needs for this sort of game.

The battles could have been given some sort of video piece to show who was being pushed back or obliterated during the conflict, giving the player something to keep them interested. I'm slightly different, as I'll play games like this quite often, so I don't need hooks to keep me playing all the time. I might come back and play this one again, the engine worked well enough.

Perhaps something at the end would have really set it aside from the rest of the game, as it did just end with "You are Victorious", as opposed to some sort of tale about how the kingdoms were united and a time of peace temporarily returned to the land, until the new king died of Pox and the whole thing started over again.

A little simple

===============
Score: 7 / 10
Summary: A little simple
Review: I like these risk-kinda games, and like Fro, I'm usually pretty good at them. But, also like Fro, I sucked at this one.

Graphics and animations
They really look good, the drawings on the front-page, and the simple gameboard. I'd like to see some animations in fights, but that's not necessary, that's pretty much just a bonus.

Plot/Story/Gameplay
A backstory would be great, but it isn't necessary. I like these games, as I said, but this was kinda hard. It seemed like the computer was working together to kick my ass, and I had no idea what I was doing with the training of new units and building stuff. I was completely lost. You might just wanna have the units auto-generate, like in so many other games, but that would kinda ruin it.

I'd like the battle-module to be expanded, but as it is, it's simple, and I don't really know what's going on. More stats, that'd be awesome. Some battle animations, sure, I agree with Fro here.

Audio
Not saying the music is bad. It was actually pretty good, but I'd rather hear some music that really fit the era that this game is set in. It's not medieval enough. Great use of SFX.

Conclusion
Not a bad game, it has some potential. I'd love to see a bigger version with the tweaks and changes mentioned. I didn't get to see all of it, I didn't even get far into the easy mode, so you might wanna do something about the AI or the difficulty.

good but too hard and unlikely

I like the game, but i think it has some programming flaws. A fight between 413 axeman against 193 axeman, and the 193 win?? No way.

Not too easy to pick up..

Art/Animation: 6/10
The art was pretty good, although the hexagons would have been nice with a bit of texture. There wasn't much animation really..That would have been nice.

Concept/Gameplay: 6/10
I think the main problem was that there wasn't good enough descriptions..It was kinda difficult to pick up...All these things kept on happening to no apparent reason..Maybe I'm just a bit slow :P

Whilst it isn't a very original game, it's not on the internet as much as you'd think, so good job with that...

Audio/Music: 8/10
The music, although good, kinda stopped after a bit, and the only way to start them again was to turn music off, then on again..The sound effects were excellent though..

Overall: 6/10
Good game, but a bit hard to pick up..Well, not for me, anyway :P

i liked it but once i noticed that with an army of 300 vs an army of 40 with a king in it i lost all of my men i was like what? then i tried it with my own king and i got ownd even though i was the knight and i chose the reds wich apperantly are the easy ones?
