Reviews for "Hey Wizard!"

that was so awsome

that was really good but be better have more hp

Too jumpy

Not even low graphics fixed the Jumpy 'Lag' problem

unbalanced

I like the game, but the skills seem unbalanced. Lightning is much better than the other two with decent damage output and long range. Necro hand is difficult to use effectively and the flame pushes you backward when used as a weapon and has short effective range.

to difficult in a non challenging way

i feel like i know where you wanted to go with this game, but it didnt quite hit the mark. i understand the whole not being able to jump and having to use alternative jumping abilities but it becomes more of an inconvenience then a challenge. when there are enemies everywhere and you cant quite get the lightning jump you need and the charge time is to long to correct your mistake it makes for alot of annying jumping frantically as you try to get the angle juuuust right. the limit on the flame ability was probably well ment, like to make players plan moves out first, but even if you know what your doing the frictionless flight at such a limited time makes it vasy chaotic to fly. it was like playing a bad racing game where the cars have too much drift, or a fps with the sensitivity too high.

one of the most important things to remember when making any game is balance. you have to think "are the starting abilities even with the difficulty of the levels?", "is flying eraticly a good thing for the kind of platformer levels i have in mind?", " is giving these challenges to the player going to be a negative thing when they encounter a problem i might not have thought of? (like multiple enemies in places i didnt plan on, enemies flying through the ground, fast enemies that made his way into a platform puzzle, ect). you can never just make a game and settle for thinking "this is what i want the player to do here", you lways have to think "what will some players want to do here and how can i make them do what i want correctly"

in the end, i nearly died on the tutorial because the end was swamped with enemies that flew through the floor. i got somewhat far into it and just wasn't having fun with the way you had it set up. keep trying

Great game

This is a very good implementation of a momentum type game, with stylish graphics and decent music/sounds. The only problem with it is that there's several bugs:

1. When you have the lightning charged up, you will occassionally fall through the ground for no reason. I've had this happen to me 3 times. Probably something to do with an edge case in hit detection.

2. If you fly really really high into the sky and then come back down, I've noticed that the positions of the gates would shift downward, often putting them inside of terrain so that it's impossible to hit them. In these cases I had to fly upward for minutes at a time so that their position would shift even lower untill eventually they're back in a clear area again. I think an easy way to fix this would be to just put a barrier in the sky so that the player can't fly too high.

My last criticism was that it was too easy. You don't get any punishment for dying, and you don't require that one level be completed before moving onto the next. The enemies also never got any harder as the levels progressed, whereas your spells did, making later levels actually easier than earlier ones, in my opinion.
