Don't get me wrong: This song was very well-produced. But this just doesn't drive me. It feels like typical Newgrounds trance. Go beyond that.
I'd take this chord structure/general motif and try to apply a different trance style. Contemporary progressive (Listen to some of Matt Darey's mixes) might work, but a Tritonal style might be even better. If you've listened to the original mix of "Utopia," that's a style that I have in mind.
I've listened to the song Utopia, its a nice song but its not what I had in mind when I made Nocturne.
By the overall comments I can see that many people have their own different opinion about this song, each one takes it to other place, so do I.

I have just listened of your song to have a lot of things to a take a look at one here. Around 3:10, when it starts to fade out, it was a little sketchy in there. Needs to be softer, but also bolder. This cam out a little loose. Like a pebble off of a rock when it was a big stone that you had meant to throw in the water; this is what the transition meant to me. You also had some clicks inside each fade....
I am not sure if that was your intention, but it was something I haven't heard used in a long time. If it was your intention, leave it be, if not, then please ask me for more information. This was the only thing that bothered me in your bit of music. It was your fades, not intro's or anything else.
Keep a good work up on that and then you have a happy fan here. Keep It Up!

You just need some new synths and plugins. I recommend nexus. Check out my shit, listen to my old stuff, it sounds like urs now, and then listen to my new shit, it sounds much better because I installed some newer plugins. Like your style too, its very original bro and thats whats important!
I have nexus 2 with expansion packs and many more vsts like gladiator and albino, so I can't see the reason why you say that.
Too simplistic for my taste
It sounds arlright but is pretty boring, its long and keeps the same pace going pretty much all through the song. No moments really stand out, there is no climax, it starts simple, gets complex then gets simple again and repeat. 7 minutes with no real stand out moments isn't a recipe for a good song. It sounds like 2 or 3 song intros strung together and stopped before they can get to the good part. But like I said this is how I feel, too simple, no climax, too long. It sounds like background music for a game, the stuff that you don't really listen too and don't really notice. Don't mark me down for having an opinion different from the masses please people.
You should not worry about getting marked down, stand behind your words.
